Did you notice there was a specific size of dog that Belgian Tervians are more likely to be aggressive too? Just curious.
The Tervuren that I do Search and Rescue with, did not have a liking to the Bermese Moutain Dog in our confirmation class, but I have not noticed anything with Riot at all. It actually depends on the dogs attitude towards him. He doesn't like dogs always in his face, thats the only thing i've noticed with him.

But, I did find your post to be a little extreme...there is not one description that fits all the dogs within one breed. I have seen so many dogs within one breed that vary greatly. That would be like my saying that all Newf's love to swim...which is not true.
When you started looking for the breed of dog you wanted, did you not do research on it? Did you not find "generalizations" from people who had possibly had that breed before. Did you not want to learn about the possible aspects of the breed? your right in the sense that not every dog of the same breed is the same. BUT, your wrong on assuming that I'm relating my post to every single Belgian. Even though.. its fairly generalized to capture most Belgians.

my friends do schutzhound. I have watched them train and had fun watching/discussing.
Hi!

This is exactly what I thought when I read your post. I have many friends that have belgian shepherds from work to show people. Some compete on highest levels and have real work champions.

Work people have different ideas and some are really narrow minded. For instance they love to present malinois as something that is actually not comparable with other 3 varieties of belgian shepherd. So according to them laekenois, tervueren and groenendael are pretty much uselles for anything but show and agility. But all this is a show vs. work story. I find this not true. If you ask different work people about something you will come to famouse sentance: "Two trainers can only agree that third one is doing it all wrong!"

I had Belgians World (portal and forum) for some time now, had belgian shepherds all my life but still I do not consider myself expert in belgian shepherds.

Bye, Katja
