I use direct connect or torrents when I want something.
Limewire should be fine if after you install it you delete the spyware and adware it installs. Those are the causes of the viruses, not the progrma itself (or else no one would use it).
As per it being illegal, it seems that the only people who really get in trouble are those who share a WHOLE bunch or share sick crap (child porn). Like last year a person from our university got arrested for having child pornography on their computer and another person got arrested for 'downloading half the internet' as it was told to me.
But the thousands of other people that just use it every now and then don't have much to worry about. And, IMO, it only helps sales because very rarely can you find full albums so you still have to buy those.
That and I don't see how it's any different from loaning a friend a CD, book, video, DVD, video game, etc.

I had it for about a month and had sooooo many BAD and DIRTY files that i got rid of it and went back to using ARES (www.aresgalaxy.org) which is another great FREE download site
