Looks like tucker is taking after his daddy, build wise! He's got that thicker snout and stockiness to him. I really like that. I keep wanting to ask this. 2 smooth coat chis can have a long coat litter? I remember about reading up chihuahua coat lengths and genetics but I don't remember. As long as both parents have a long hair parent? Lol. Confusing a bit. Tuckers coat is coming in and he's looking beautiful.

Both of Tucker's parents are smooth coats.

Out of Tucker's litter (4 pups), 3 ended up being LC's. It's something that rarely happens, but his dad's dad was a LC, and his mom's mom was a LC. So they carried those recessive genes.

Tucker has an unusually fluffy coat, though, for coming from 2 SC parents.

I really like his build, and I'm beginning to see a lot of his dad in him. Lookswise, Tucker is pretty much my ideal chi... I can't wait to see how he looks when he gets his full coat in.

Oh ok, so it is possible. Interesting! He gets his color from his mom and his studly good looks from his dad!! Can't wait to see what he matures into. I always thought he was the best looking out of the litter, even over the show prospect female.

as long as both short coats carry for long you can get long coat pups, short is dominant.

2 short = short
2 short carrying long = long and short
2 long = long only



wowie genetics are fun, trying to figure out colors will make your head spin...you know like in most breeds you can generally predict the outcome of colors to some degree...
with wowies, its like SUPRISE!

vixie is a red carrying blue sable
dodger is a cream/blue fawn carrying sable
and we got
fernando whos the spitting image of his daddy
Olive whos the spitting image of mommy
rosie who is red with heavy black sabling (she looks like a tiny shepard!)
and gizmo...who ended up being a tricolor! lol, the only red in him is on his eyebrows, the rest of his body is black and white, he was sooo random!

I definitely agree- chihuahua colors can get really confusing!
