Are some breeds more naturally inclined to lick people than others?

Which ones??

Thanks...

Well...
I think some dogs are more inclined to be 'people-lovers', but I think it mostly depends on the individual dog. My dog, who is part Golden, by the books should be a big kisser! However, that is not so. There are fewer kisses, but that means that each one is more precious and loving :D.

I think the girls kiss more than the boys.
I have to disagree with you there!! Charlie is a HUGE kisser...if your face is within 2 feet from his than you can expect a thorough face-licking. If a face isn't available, a leg or arm will do. ;)
Also, males are usually more affectionate than females, generally speaking. Certainly not always though :)

I think it depends on the dog really. More outgoing and affectionate breeds usually will be more of the licky type, but I can't really point out specific breeds...it really depends on the dog.

I'll have to go with it being the individual dog. I have two female Filas. Kharma is a dedicated licker, Shiva doesn't at all.

And then there is Bimmer, a male GSD/wolf mix, who is definitely a licker.

I don't think it varies breed to breed, so much as it does dog to dog. Just as an example, I've known tons of Rottweilers and have owned them forever. Some were lickers, some weren't. I don't think there is really a breed out there who would be more inclined to lick than another.

No. It really is based on the dog. My Silky Terrier, Princess never licked us unless she was REALLY excited, and it was only one little peck. Her daughter, Lucy never stops licking. :lol-sign: It's just based on the dog. Princess was definately a people dog, and she was very sweet, and loving, just in her own way. ;)

Katie loves to give kisses....once she warms up to you its pretty much guaranteed u'll feel that sloppy tongue. It doesnt bother me at all though each one is precious. :)

The 3 boxers I know can't seem to keep their tongues in their mouths lol. Whether or not it's a breed trait, I have no idea...it's entirely possible they're just goofy dogs. ;)

Lucy is weird, she will cover your arms and legs in kisses but absolutely will not kiss a person's face, unless you've just eaten something lol. But that doesn't mean bichons and poodles don't give kisses...

Zoe would sit there and lick people for hours if they let her. Toes, arms, lips, she just loves to kiss

I really think it just depends on the dog. All three of my chihuahuas are crazy lickers... but we have never stopped them!

Both of my dogs are quite the lickers. Lucy shoots her tongue right into your mouth before you know it! She also licks eyes! Millie does it on my leg and arm when she's seeking approval or wants to go outside, etc. I think it's sweet and i've never stopped them from licking.
