So I realized that I never posted these here and thought I'd share them :) Took them exactly a month ago today, so he's due for new ones soon!

Since these were taken, he went to his first "real" show (UKC, he's single registered there) and came home with 95pts. and all of his competition wins toward his CH. So he'll finish that up in May at our next show. His first AKC show is coming up in MD in April!

How easy is it to get a Ch title in the UKC with the Am Staff breed?
Depends on if you have a nice dog ;) Many of the dogs showing in UKC are also showing in AKC. Sako finished at 11 months (I purposefully held him back so he could finish his CH at NAPBTA Nationals), and got his GRCH at 15 months.

Makes sense!! You do have REALLY nice dogs!

He's maturing so nicely!! Congrats on your wins thus far - I'm sure you will have plenty more of those :D
Thank you! I hope so :) The AKC show we're doing in April is a Terrier specialty so I'd really love for him to get something there. Granted, he'll only be 8 months old so you never know.

Hi handsome!

Kady, are you going to do some performance stuff with him or just stick to confo?
I plan on getting his CGC & TDI, and trying him out in WP once he's old enough. Of course at the next UKC show we're doing they're having lure coursing, but he won't be old enough :/ We do have a barn hunt club near me that I might try him & Sako out at once it's warmer.

Other than that, I'm not sure. Honestly, Rally & OB really aren't my thing. I do like agility (Sako LOVES it), so might dabble in that a bit. Not sure if we'll ever actually compete in it though.

I would love to do OB and rally, but truthfully it may be years before Rhys is mature enough. He is a good boy and obeys me well in most situations, but he is a drivey guy and I have encouraged that for performance reasons. I have no plans to tone him down until we have some weight pull, dock diving, and coursing under his belt. He is so good and quiet in the house, but outside he is a machine and loves to work.

How old do they have to be to course in UKC? I was going to try Rhys in AKC coursing in May right before he turns one. I am still totally uneducated about the rules and the finer points of everything.

For both AKC & UKC they have to be at least a year old (see: http://images.akc.org/pdf/rulebooks/RELURE.pdf Pg. 29 and http://res.ukcdogs.com/pdf/2014LureCoursingRulebook.pdf Pg. 4)

I swear I read something recently where AKC was going to change (or was thinking of changing) the age to 6 months. I personally would never LC a 6 month old puppy though.
That change did happen, but it was rescinded. AKC rules are back to stating the minimum age is 12 months.... thank god.

Oh good, I could just hear the horror stories about people running 6 mount olds..

Damnit. He'll be like two weeks shy of a year old.
Boo that sucks! I'm really hoping they offer LC at the next local UKC show after the one in May so Barrett can run. I'm pretty sure he'd love it.
