if anybody cares, the thread is under the Boxers heading, and I see nothing nasty about it at all. You should be careful about painting a picture with too broad of strokes.

I went to the Leerburg site and read the posts under "Boxers" relating to Tucker...What, in your opinion, Hedwig, was rude or nasty about ANY of those responses?

I truly want to know because publicly flaming them seems TOTALLY out of line here on this issue.

I am so lost. I see nothing bad (other than some of those people sing the praises of Ceasar Milan....the man with endless amount of t.v. editing to prove he's "legit") about any of their responses.

And honestly, if it were up to me, I'd probably euthanize the dog despite that I feel it's current owner probably did most of the damage herself. But the truth is that there are NOT endless amounts of homes out there & there are far too few homes that are capable of dealing with such issues in a pet. Another truth: there are countless boxers out there waiting for adoption that don't have any of these issues.

I don't know anything about the boxer thread, BUT ..

leerburg is known for pretty harsh training methods. He uses a bit of positive reinforcement but a LOT of correction.

And his thoughts on chows are extreme and very bad. He assumes all chows are aggressive monsters. For example:

"Chow's are independent and their training should include the use of a prong collar and probably an electric collar."

"I listen to the dog training segment of NPR (National Public Radio) on Saturdays. I smile when I hear the nice lady that laughs a lot tell people to put a halty on a dogs head and use food to teach the WATCH-ME command to correct this kind of aggressive behavior. She explains that if the dog is watching your face it cannot get aggressive to other dogs. I am sorry - she is a nice lady but her advice sometimes sucks. A halty may work with PHOO PHOO the soft poodle but its not going to work on a CHOW that wants to eat that poodle and its owner for lunch. This eye contact concept may work but only if you get eye contact by helicoptering this dog in a 380 degree circle about 3 feet off the ground - he will be looking directly into your eyes and know for sure that you are pissed off at what he is doing. "

"When you have dogs that are this aggressive the concept of control is very simple. The level of aggression from the handler needs to be at a higher level than the level aggression that is coming from the dog, if the handler cannot do this the dog wins."

"I will tell you that with many dogs this level of correction may mean jerking the dog off his feet with a prong collar. It may mean that the owner has to put his dog into total avoidance to get his attention. This is not rocket science, once the dog understands that EVERY TIME IT SHOWS aggression it is going to have its head taken off - it will mind."

"It means you do not ever let your Chow meet other dogs and it means you do not let strangers pet your dog. "

Well, darn, Khana is going to the Boys and Girls club tomorrow as part of a demo - which includes interacting WITH the children.

I wouldn't let Frawley (leerburg) anywhere near ANY of my dogs .. ever. He's not intelligent or knowledgeable enough to train a chow properly.

i cant stand the man myself, i asked for his oppinion and any ideas and the remarks and nasty coments from him i got! i dont like him, i cant say anything about the training because i havent really watched the dvds, cant afford them, but from what you have told me this is a silly remark, i think most dogs should be trained with the same style so to speak

I'm pretty sure this should probably end now. There is lots of good info on that site, if you choose to just focus on the things you don't agree with that's fine. BUT you said some things over there on another thread, that i'm pretty sure you don't want brought up here too, so do what you will, but just remember there are two sides to every story.

As frustrating as I understand those messages may be, we do not allow other forum drama to be brought over here. You are more than free to PM people about it, but no public lashings.
