I've only ever had nylon. I've considered getting leather. And I would have if I would've gotten my Vizsla like I planned. But I just don't think leather lead with nylon snap collar looks good. Haha.. I like my leads/collars to match somewhat. Like, they can be two different colors, but they ahve to be the same material. :p

one - two foot loop attached to clip. No more then that for my dogs are tall. Since there is never any pull at the other end it makes things way easier in not getting tangled up, especially for Hyia. she and victor hung out in the yard lmost of the afternoon. He walks so gentle she never has to worry about anything.

Nylon is good enough but anything would really work. I have used a bandana in the past when i couldn't lay my hands on anything else.

Definitley (high quality) leather, I own 2 nylon leashes only because they were given to us. I never use them. I love the idea of a double loop leash, but I can't find any leather ones like that. I also have 2 leashes (1 6ft, 1 30ft) that are made out of a rubbery sort of material that I use for Tango when we're near water and I don't want to let her off leash for whatever reason.

MisssAshby, there are examples of tabs on this page. You have to scroll down a bit.

Riot doesn't really use a leash and when I do hes just got a flat royal blue nylon one. For shows he has a very very fine nylon black lead with a thin black choke chain. and his other "puppy" show lead(which is frayed like crap now) was a thicker nylon(thick for a show line) beige colour one that looped onto the choker.

Toller - Thanks for letting me in on the loop, my next question. What are they used for? I'm looking for a new leather combo for my two - does the company you linked make nice stuff? Have you ever ordered from them?

Thanks.

Chico has like a gold set of leashes/collars (buckles are gold) and a set of silver. It all depends on what kind of mood I'm in. If I want elegant looking I use gold but if I really don;t care of want a more average look then I use silver. I don't think Chico cares, but I do.

I showed you what a tab was, so I'm assuming that must be what you meant instead of 'loop'. Honestly, I've never used one so have no idea what they're for but they look like something just to make it easier to grab hold of your dog if you had to but I could be wrong...:) I've ordered a couple leashes from them before but they were cheaper then, for some reason they raised the prices about a month ago. I absolutely love the leashes I ordered and would definitely purchase from them again when it comes time for another leash.

I was looking on the site and noticed several things I liked - maybe I'll place an order then since you've ordered and been happy with the product. My main concern is quality. I MORE than willing to pay for what I get - I hate having to replace something just a few months down the road because it's cheap.

I just use a cheap nylon leash. I think it's 4 or 6 foot, don't remember exactly. Zeus has wonderful leash manners, so I don't see the point of investing money in a super strong/expensive leash.

at the kennels we had nylon rope spray painted florescent orange attached to clips..lots of them. The orange really helped when you set it down on the line to send your dog. ;)

is the dbl loop leash the one with a loop at the top, and then an additional one much further down, making the leash super short? I just used one of those theother day at the humane society...i had never seen that before! those are cool!!

and to be honest, i dont even know what kind of leash we are using...we have like 5, most likely a a cheapo one (he chewed his good leather one up :( )...but we RARELY use a leash.....

I think the lead you are reffering to is a training lead

Was it like that? My dog has one since she was a puppy but we still use it :)

I actually went to a horse fair this weekend to look for a new leash for Mojo. I am SO picky when it comes to leashes however, and of the hundreds of vendors I didn't see a single leash that I liked. So, now, my boyfriend is going to take me to a custom leather shop, that generally caters to the BDSM/Biker scene around here, and talk them into making me a new leather set for Mojo from my personal design. Fortunately for me, the owner likes my boyfriend and will probably be more willing to do it as a "favor" to him, versus if I just walked in and asked. Once it's done I will post pictures... :)

I don't like my oiled leather leaches too wide and find a good selection on the internet... mine last forever,
