Lab tests from vet

Ok, i got this paper on blood lab tests on my min pin. I would like to know what Platelet Count (PLT) is please? It was said to be high on the list. My min pin is doing very good now. He came back from the vet a few days ago, after being there for over 6 days.

The platelet's are the things that stop the bleeding when you get a cut. They are carried in the blood and if your dog gets hurt/cut they will go to the wound and stick together to stop the bleeding.

As far as having a high platelet count, I don't know what would cause that or if there would be any problems due to it. What did your vet say about it being high?
