I'm pretty sure I posted about this before when Kyrie was really young because I was concerned about my cats when she got older.. And now she's older and even though I have given her a firm "No!" her everytime she does it, she's still doing it except rather than 30lbs she's over 100lbs.

Travis just caught her doing it to my tiny cat Inu. Kyrie pushed her on her back with her nose, and then stomped on Inu with one paw and pushed so hard that Inu made a squish/meow noise.. I'm just glad I wasn't in the room to hear it /:

I don't know what to do at this point ): I don't know how else to get her to stop.

Any suggestions please! But, I won't be rehoming my cats because:
1) My cats came first
2) I love my cats as much as my dogs, and I won't go however long Kyrie lives without cats, Kyrie will be rehomed if any pet has to be rehomed- which I'm sure won't have to happen.. Just wanted to clear that up first.

Thanks in advance :)

Maybe she thinks the kitties are squeaky toys? I have to watch Sawyer around small dogs at the park for that very reason.

Do the cats not know to run away?

I would make sure they're always supervised when they're together and physically get between Kyrie and the cats when she looks like she wants to go play with them. Treat her anytime she's calm around the cats and have Kyrie do some long downs around them. If she gets too frisky put her in another room. Basically teach her that she has to be calm with them or she doesn't get to be around them at all.

It really does just sound like she thinks they're squeaky toys and she's not really trying to hurt them. You could try redirecting her to one of her toys when she looks like she wants to play with the cats. If she at least pauses when you say "no" or make an "anh!" noise them immediately say "good!" and get her playing with the toy.

Zoom- 90% of the time my cats just kind of stand(or lay) there ground. They generally don't run from her, but when they do Kyrie 99% of the time never chases them. Maybe she does just see them as toys until they start moving? Thanks for the advice, I think you're right about that. Luckily I've only seen her do this with the cats then, but I've never seen anything smaller than a beagle pup at the dog park before so who really knows!

Lizzybeth- Heck no they aren't declawed! But I've never seen either of them use their claws to stand up for themselves.. The only time I've seen them paw at Kyrie, they just try to push her nose away without using their claws.. which is interesting because I used to often see my Collie walk around with claws stuck on his nose from my mom's cats, lol.

Lisa- Thanks for the advice, I will definitely do that! I think the treating her for being calm will be amazingly effective because she is a HUGE fan of anything edible, lol!

Thanks guys :D

Sounds like my house...

som'times I just want to tell the cats...fight back already!!! But they must on som' level enjoy it as they never protest...

I basically praise any interaction with the cats thats apropriate and then redirect if they get rough...

the cats only encourage tho. :)

LOL! Exactly! But what can we do! I think my cats are a little too tolerant! I'm so used to my family's past two cats, they did not put up with anything from my dogs, ever! Haha :)

I will do that praise and redirect though, thanks so much!
