All he needs to do is scream and try to walk on your face to be named an Instant Honorary Koolie :)

If he acts like a koolie, send him my way!

Not going to lie, but I wonder if he is a Coolie that someone got & didn't want. There is a Coolie breeder in the US.

(For anyone not following me, there is a huge breed split between the two)

Is be curious to know as well. If you are referring to the breeder in TX, my friend just got a puppy from them.

I wouldn't say there is a breed split, I believe there is more a split between breeders and if they think there is a split. Like Ida in Texas insists they are different and that she only breeds German Coolies. But there after many breeders in Australia that call their dogs GC and will happily breed to a breeder who calls their dogs AK. Traveler's dad is from one of those breedings, a Coolie to aKoolie

Some Like to be vocal about differences but most see a Coolie as a Koolie and just call their dogs whatever they grew up calling them. You trend to not see differences between Koolies and Coolies but rather kennel and line differences

ETA I don't think that dog looks like an Ida dog but who knows! But Koolie look a likes happen. Look at Zuma

I was going to say. Zuma totally looks like a Koolie so its likely this dog is some sort of cross between something.

What is the difference between 'Coolie' and 'Koolie'?
Preference.

For the most part from what I've been able to see some breeders call them German Coolies because that's what they grew up calling them or they got their dogs from a breeder who called their dogs that. Same goes for the Australian Koolie breeders. I've heard some people try and say that German Coolie is the older real line but other kennels that are as old or older call them Australian Koolies so I don't give that much credence.

There are people who insist there is a difference like Ida in Texas who says she breeds German Coolies and not Australian Koolies. But honestly, from what I can tell is there are certain kennels and lines that have distinct looks to them and they call their dogs one or the other and that's the biggest difference. So her dogs might be different but most breeders in Australia see them as a Coolie is a Koolie is a Coolie is a Koolie.

Like I said, Traveler's dad is from an outcross. Toolalla (Richie) has grown up calling his dogs Australian Koolies but quite often outcrosses to a kennel called Borahview Coolies. And that's not uncommon.

So yeah, my opinion is same dog.

From my understanding Australian Koolie is to German Coolie as Blue Heeler/Red Heeler is to Australian Cattle Dog. Two different names for the same breed.

I guess I got confused because on Ida's website it kinda sounds like "ewwwww my dogs are NOT related to those awful Koolies!" ;)

And maybe they aren't hahaha. :D

I got asked if Gambit was a Coolie the other day. Nah, but he might just be a Coylie ;)

If his ears had stood (and I think they could have with a little encouragement), I could almost see it, but look at those droopy little things. I know, cutest ears in the world, right?
