Kody hurt himself last night. He went to jump on the bed and he let out the loudest yelp I have ever heard.

He can't get up on the bed or off it now. And when I go to pick him up he whimpers and just follows me around the house all sad.

When hes not hiding under the bed he just sits there and stares at me.

How long would you wait before taking him to the vet?

for me (and this totally subjective--no medical reasoning, just my level of comfort)--I'd take him if he wasn't acting somewhat better in 24 hours. He may just be bruised--but he may have something more serious going on that needs to be treated.
Feel better Kody!

I'd probably take him in if he wasn't improving by the day after the incident. Back injuries, etc respond best when treated quickly, I think.

Yeah i think if he's not better by tomorrow morning, we'll take a trip to the vet just to be safe. he can't even put his front legs on me without his whole body shaking....

With those symptoms I'd have taken him today. It sounds spinal.
Right now he is asleep on my bed. Unfortunately, I have no money until tomorrow anyway. As long as he sleeps through the night and doesn't seem uncomfortable, I will take him tomorrow. I just wish I knew what happened to him.

He actually has improved a lot. I am limiting his jumping so he doesn't re injure himself. But he seems very happy, tail wagging, and he's even playing with Chance. I'm still making sure he rests a lot, so it continues to get better.

Those famous Chaz vibes worked yet again!

I didn't see this until now. I'm sorry Kody injured himself! Glad to hear he's doing better, though. :)

Thanks guys! He is doing a lot better today too. He still can't put his paws all the way up on me, but his spirits are good, and I'm glad he's improving!

You may still need to get him checked out - if it is a spinal problem you can do some things to help him recover and not have a relapse - in my experience, spinal issues never fully go away.
