Is this brand as good as it looks? The puppy food is 28% protein, which looks good, and the first ingredient is lamb- it does have wheat I believe, but it seems like a good high-protein mid range food. I like my current feeding program fine and it seems like it would be a step down from Natural Balance dry and Evangers/Innova/NB/Tripett/etc canned, but I wonder if this brand is good enough to recommend for clients who want an inexpensive dog food that is better for their pets than Purina or Pedigree.

Here are the ingredients of Kirkland Signature Chicken and Rice after the most recent update to the formula...

I get KS chicken & rice for about 17.00 for a 40 pound bag.... I am very pleased with the way my dogs look and they seem to really like the food.
Rocket doesnt have skin problems anymore....Since we switched from a higher priced commercialized food. :D

The last time I looked, Mordy didn't have this particular food ingredients updated.. :)

I think it would be a much better alternative than grocery store dog foods.
And it is cheaper too.

I have fed the Kirklnad food for years. I have six dogs and two cats, and they do great on it. It really is a great food.

my Parent's feed Kirlkland, they have 8 dogs, so it is at least a decent food that they can afford. (they use to feed science diet, so it is a step up for them)

Ingredients look pretty good, especially factoring in the price.

Our two dogs eat Kirkland dog food and they do well on it. Both of them like it, and their coats are nice and shiny. :) Of course, we had been using Nutro before, but I think KS is a step up from that at least. There are better brands out there, but its a pretty good food and for the price you really can't beat it.

I'm wondering what the difference is between Kirkland and Diamond Naturals. Kirkland looks to have more fruit and vegetables so is that the better buy? We've been rotating foods and my dogs seem to do better with a mid range food.

I think Kirkland is a really good choice for people that need a covenient and fairly priced food. It's WAY better than Pedigree or Purina. Our local Costco also carries a Kirkland Organic dog food now. If we were ever in the position where we had to cut costs down, then I would feed it.

I feed Kirkland chicken and rice to 3 of my dogs. Some of my others eat Canidae, one eats Evo, one is on Pro Plan turkey and barley, all for specific reasons. I'm generally embarrassed to say that I feed Kirkland to some of my dogs. I ran into another breeder friend of mine today and we were talking about just that, that quite a few breeders have been turning to it but are afraid to even admit it. A lot of the people I know who are using it are former Pro Plan customers who find it similar enough quality-wise to try it, and then stay with it. I can't say as I've seen a difference in leaving Pro Plan chicken and rice and going to Kirkland chicken and rice.
