Kibble Shelf Life?

I figure this has been covered before, but couldn't for the life of me come up with search terms that gave me any results.

How long does kibble stay good for after you open the bag? What about if you put it in a tupperware type container? Also, how do you know it's gone bad?

Never had kibble last long enough to find out. (I go through 40 lbs every week)But, if it were me, I wouldnt have it open for more then 2-3 weeks. Buy just enough to last you that long.
We did have kibble go bad on us once- mice chewed a hole in the bottom of the container, and it got wet. It had a rancid smell, like something was rotting. (Which it was). Go by the smell on it. If it smells nasty, or unusual, throw it out.

Good question. I don't know the answer but I'd like to add something to your question. What is the shelf life of dog biscuits? I ask because I bought a big box and it's about three months old now.
