We recently found out that Khaki (my Aussie) will herd the Beagle pups. All along when she would be playing with them, I noticed she would always run after the one that would "break away from the pack" and block it's path. It's like she knew she was supposed to do something with 'em, but didn't know exactly what...

Well, I was at my parents house the other day and my Mom's pup (Buddy) and the one I'm keeping (Pineapple) were out in the yard playing. They got to where they were heading down towards the road (it's a dirt road with hardly any traffic) and I jokingly told Khaki to go get them........She then runs down to them, circles them a few times, and brings them back to the house....She didn't drive them to the house or anything, they followed her. Anyway, we were all floored when she did that. She will herd the puppies back to the house on command now, and she has never had any training when it comes to herding. Khaki is from a working line of Aussies so I guess the instinct is really strong in her....

Not sure if this is considered herding since the pups follow her back, but she goes to get them and won't come back until they are following her.

Just thought I'd share this, it really amazed me.....
