Her Holiness? Shouldn't that be Her Holeyness?
Ahahaha! I love it.

So glad she's ok! I hope that her physical and mental healing goes smoothly! What did the Danes owner say?
I didn't talk to her much right then, but they told me she was sobbing in the lobby after we left for the vet's. She left her name and # and asked me to call, and when I did, she told me she had been pacing and sick to her stomach all afternoon. The Dane is a new to them (adult rescue) and she was really frightened.

So glad she's okay Emily! That's scary for sure! My guys are fine with the cats and smaller dogs, but I've seen what they can do with other critters when prey drive kicks in, it takes just a split second. Keeva is one lucky pup! I'm so sorry you had such a scare! Good healing vibes to Keeva for a speedy and uneventful recovery.
I really, really think this was a big part of it, just based on the way he moved. I think it was a bad case of predatory drift coupled with a bit of DA.
Hopefully her Holeyness won't be put off by this too badly. She's got an awesome mom, and good dog friends to help her out. And she seems to be a pretty stable little girl.
She's doing GREAT so far - a testament to her sound temperament. She did charge back into the lobby yesterday out for blood for a second, and she has just been all around sharper since it happened, but lots of +R and counterconditioning are already starting to tone it down. No tail-tucked fear, just defensiveness - she's an angry little thing. My boss said, "He's lucky surprised her, or she would have won!"
Little booger was taking treats immediately after it happened, btw.
And she wanted her ball. LOL. Tough as nails, I'm telling you.
Her Holeyness is working on a kong right now - she's nuts.
Even on leash, she flips around like a fish on a hook trying to get to the cat or the other dogs. I've just got to keep stuff in her mouth or keep her crated. The vet was like, "You'll have to keep her quiet, which I know might be difficult depending on her energy level." Um, lady... you have NO idea, haha. :yikes:
On that note, if anybody has some recommendations on effective, non-prescription quieting supplements (yes, Benadryl counts, LMAO!), I'd really appreciate them. I also need to find a way to cover the puncture on her chest so we can at least go for leashed walks without splashing street gunk into it...
