Poor Kai, he can't get a break. :( First his foot and now this... Since about 9:00 p.m. last night he has vomited 8-9 times. The last time was at about 9:30 a.m. It's mostly a yellow bile, though there was a small amout of food last night. He's not eating or drinking and he's very lethargic. He normally has tons of energy in the morning, but now he just lays and sleeps. He only gets up to vomit. He's not even following me around the house. (And he's usually my little shadow.) I have to coax him to get up. I made an appointment with the vet, but the soonest we can get in is 3:00 p.m. I'm really worried about him... How bad does this sound to you guys? Is there anything I should be doing to help him before our appointment?

I should know this but how old is Kai? Doesnt sound good to me.
Maybe call the vet and say its an emergency? Or just bring Kai in early.
I hope its nothing serious!

He's one year old.

Thanks, I really hope it's not too serious also. I probably will show up a little early...

I can probably get him in somewhere else sooner, if you guys think it's an emergency that can't wait... but I feel the place I have an appointment with is the best place in the area...

Being lethargic is a bad sign period. Means she is dehydrated and thats really not good. Get some pedialite non flavored a large syring and force some fluids down Kai. Do this every hour untill she gets to the vets office. Dont want her being dehydrated.
Another way is to actually inject the fluid into her skin but I dont advise that for the average owner:) Thats for more of an emergence.

I got him to drink a little bit... and I got our appointment moved up to 2:30.

I will let you know how it turns out. Cross your fingers for us! I'm really nervous... he's just not himself. :(

Awww... poor baby. I hope he feels better soon. Hopefully it's not an obstruction. At the very least he sounds like he will be dehydrated from all the vomiting and diarrhea. Let us know how it goes at the vet. Goodluck!

Make sure that they check for a blockage. Sounds exactly like Cooper about a month ago. I took him to the vet, and they didn't check for a blockage and just gave him a shot, and medicine. The next day I rushed him to the animal hospital (www.rbvh.net), best in the area! Thank god, he swallowed a whole sock! Had I not brought him, he would've never passed it on his own. Good luck!

I use something called Rebound when when of my dogs get a stomach upset. It is chicken flavored and they love it. I also use it on puppies that are declining. My vet uses it after surgeries. It is always so scary when one of our precious pets are that sick. They can't tell us what is wrong. My vet has a person come right in if it is an emergency.

Aw, thanks everyone!

Kai is doing okay now. :) The vet thought he might have had a blockage, but the x-rays came out clear. It was probably just really bad gas from stomach upset. The stomach upset probably came from a new bone that we gave him. He got tested for parasites and got bloodwork done and everything looks okay. Though the vet says his protein and vitamin levels are low, probably from the poor diet he had before. He also needs to gain some more weight, even though he has already gained a pound since we got him. He got fluids and an injection and sent home with medicine.

He seems like he's back to his old self this morning, so I'm really thankful. I don't know what I would have done if there would have been something seriously wrong with him.

Sorry for the slow update. I was SO exhausted from being up all night taking care of him the night before, I just crashed on the couch with the dog when we got home.

Thanks for the advice and well wishes. :)
