since there are quite a few motorcycle related posts tonight... Thought it would be a good time to share some information.

Several months ago a friend notified me of a casting call for a reality TV show for speed TV. I took it as a joke and went in for kicks and giggles. I made the first cut. Went to the second casting and they informed us that if we made it we would know in a 3 days max. I waited 2 weeks and never got a call :(

Fast fwd a month... I get a call at 8am in the morning from some lady gibbering about how i made the cuts. I had no idea what she was talking about. Plus, she asked for "ruben" my names freakin Robert. Long story short she told me I made it on the show and they're filming a week from then.

Had to pack up all my gear plus my bike and drove about an hour and 30 minutes.

Long story short, the show is about getting a bunch of motorcycle riders (cruisers, sportbikes, quads, dirtbikes) and throwing them on a different machine. The riders dont know what they're riding or who they're riding with until last minute
another cast member is the son to the 1982 dirtbike world champion, the pro riders are... a 1990's quad champion, a 7 time ama national champion, and the god father of freestyle. I'm not naming any names since i dont think i'm supposed to... But what the heck!

They pulled up in a huge Factory semi truck filled with bikes. Got over $1000 worth of gear. We only filmed the intro scenes so far. We go riding in Jan 2007 for further filming :) Pop's told me to take it easy when riding while being filmed... This is the one time where I wont listen to him!

I'm not on that type of level, skill wise by any means! lol I honsetly dont know why they even picked me.
Travis Pastrana already did a backflip barspin on a special bike... so i'm going to have to do something really crazy... Maybe ghost ride whatever i'm riding into the factory trailer! haha

Sounds like fun. Just don't over-ride your ride. I know you drive a CBR and are used to the large powerband but still, going into a curve too hot on an unfamiliar bike is a recipe for disaster.

For sure! Good looking out.

I dont think they're going to put me on a streetbike though. :p
If it was a streetbike ride they would have a streetbike racer/legend on the episode. We had a quad guy and two dirtbikers haha.

when you getting your M1 license?

Oh I already have the M on my license. Have had it for a year now.

And it's killing me. I took the MSF back in October....of 2005. Sigh. Have ridden a very few times on a GS500 since my Nighthawk 250 in the MSF.

Hopefully...this summer...at the latest..I can buy one. I have 3k saved up and could buy an EX500/GS500 (the two bikes I'm looking at...used of course) now, but if I do that I know I'll be tempted to ride it without gear. And yah..I don't wanna do that.

Honestly I haven't a clue. Haven't gotten that far in the game yet.

I went to a dealer (which has since closed) last year to try on some A* jackets but never thought to get the jacket size. Problem is that my area (a college town with a ton of motorcycles...) only has three dealers. Harley, Honda, and Suzuki/Kawasaki. Harley carries no gear (surprise surprise), the Honda dealership has a very limited selection and the Suzuki/Kawasaki has less than that.

So I've been checking NewEnough (which is where I'll probably be getting most my stuff from) and they have pretty good deals and their customer service, by all accounts that I've read, can't be beat.

Now it's a waiting game. I think I may just start buying gear now though. That way I may just be only tempted to put it on and try and put a knee down on my pedal bike instead. That would be uh...fun.

Edit: Ah snap just saw the link you posted. According to the sizing chart I'm a 42. Yah know it's a shame that they only have 52 and up left else I'd order one. But yah that site's now bookmarked.
