Mia is having one of her worst days so far. It was 68F outside and she could not make a 20 minute walk. Her breathing has gotten so loud and I just don't know what to do. I'm so worried about her and how am I going to keep her happy and how much longer we may have.

I am going to call my vet monday and ask about trying medication. I think he had the idea that she just couldn't run agility in hot weather but she's unable to even take a stroll around the block comfortably right now.

A year ago she was just fine unless it was 90+ and then it was only after walking a long time that she had trouble.

68 outside and she can't do anything. :( My poor girl.

I am wondering if there is more going on than just a collapsed trachea though. Everything I read is saying that should cause coughing but she is not coughing. Her breathing is just very rough when she pants.

ugh I'm so sorry :( That is so scary and sad. Hopefully there are some meds out there that give her a reprieve.

Do you any pools in the forest or lakes or whatever nearby that you could take her swimming in? Might help keep her cool...

I am so heartbroken for you and Mia, and I'm sorry that she is struggling especially. Keep us updated on what the vet says. Hugs :(

Wetting her down does seem to help. I am just dreading this weather, which sucks because it should be nice. She wants to GO but then when we do go she cannot. :(

Last year she was out in this weather for hours running and playing and sprinting all over the place. Summer is running laps around her now.

Oh no, ugh, I'm so sorry ((hugs)) My heart goes out to you and Mia, I'm sorry she's having to go through this.

I too would definitely look at medication. I found out my friends Yorkie that has CT takes a half a hydrocodone twice a day. It has helped him a lot.

I was going to mention swimming too - do you have anywhere you could do that? I know it's not her favorite activity ever, but at least it would give her that physical energy outlet. We have a facility near our house that has indoor swimming for dogs.

Crap, I'm sorry. I wonder if a wet cool coat of some sort might help her? I know nothing about the condition, but if being wet helps, it might?

(((hugs)))

We took the dogs on a 4 mile hike today. Halfway through, Cynder regurged all of her breakfast. And she didn't keep anything down yesterday, either. I understand the feeling of having a bad day and wondering when the scale is going to tip. It sucks.

I'm really sorry, and hope the vet is able to give you some tools to help combat this and let Mia be her crazy self
