Yahweh pretty much cooked himself with me with his pettiness, paranoia, genocidal tendencies as self-promotion as "a jealous god."

Observation has taught me that the gods devised by mankind ARE petty and cruel and tend to validate all the worst in mankind. We even manage to pervert the teachings of the Great Teachers who come among us for their season and twist them to our own selfish ends.

Alternatively, you could look at it as if God is actually a kind and gentle god as so many christians say he is, would not living a good life helping others and being a good person be enough to earn his favor? Or would a person who poisons and kills hundreds of people by contaminating a town's water supply on purpose with a disease/virus that slowly kills someone, yet later in the last few years of his life says "wait, nvrmind. My bad." and converts after killing hundreds of people and living a life of absolute sin get in because he believes in god and asked for his forgiveness? If the first one goes to hell just for not believing, then I'll be with a bunch of other nice atheists burning in hell.

Aside from the obvious religious significance given the dominant religions of the time in the areas these monuments were built, and the fact that a lot of religion used astrology and these monuments point to certain major star on major days of the year (summer/winter solstice, spring/fall equniox)?

Hiding alien spacecraft? Most likely not. Hiding the crashes/ sightings of tp secret military aircraft? You bet.

Given that a lot of UFO sightings in the 80's were of a triangular shaped craft that seemed to zoom around at high speed, yet civilian radar never picked up anything in the area around the time of the sightings, and then this got declassified in 1988 from being top secret:

Of course not ALL UFO sightings are actually beings from other planets, lol. Some of them can be explained as air craft made by man. That is very true. I am talking about the kind that is impossible to explain. Disk shaped, no sound, hovering, able to go in any and all directions, speed of lightening, etc. And then what about the ones that are as large as a football field? Some said the arrangement of lights were flares, but thats proven to be false. The lights keep their perfect shape and position before they disappear. I could go on and on.

There are too many things that support this happening for me not to believe. Until its proven otherwise, I am still going to believe. I do not think its far fetched at all.

I'm more inclined to believe in secret test aircraft the public doesn't know about yet than some far fetched idea about aliens traveling from distance galaxies just to check out some rednecks' bumhole.

The "Wives submit to your husbands" thing is very often misunderstood. Immediately after that, he writes "Husbands love your wives, as Christ loved the church". What the apostle was basically saying is that wives should put aside their own wants and needs for the good of the family and for the good of the faith and that Husbands must put aside their own wants, needs and desires and do what is best for his marriage/family/etc. It was a command that men and women equally submit to each other (he actually says that right BEFORE the "wives submit to your husbands" verse, but that verse is almost never quoted by people who want to take it out of context.

People LOVE to take stuff out of context and use it for their own purposes. I had a professor who used to say "A text without a context is a pretext for a proof text." (which was a quote by someone else). Basically saying "take it out of context and you cane make it say anything you want".

I did a quick google on this passage and this guy explains it better than my ramblings do.

Unfortunately the website didn't give much explanation at all. I hate that. So what if your husband is mistreating you? Do you still have to submit? If so, I dont agree.

lol. I am sure there are top secret aircraft, but to fly that aircraft EVERYWHERE for people to easily see? Not so smart. Plus, disk shaped UFOs have been around for a VERY long time. Longer than we've had aircraft ourselves.

There are also those cases were people have come across UFOs that have landed. There are cases where police officers have even come across this. In one case a man came across an area where government officials were covering up a UFO crash after he seen everything. The man made a story about what he had seen (UFOs and what he thought were life from other planets). Government officials threatened his life not to say a word and made him destroy his story. Just something I thought was interesting, lol.

I am a Christian. I just want to say God has changed my life and has fulfilled me. What I am about to say I am not preaching just trying to help. I do not push or look down on anyone; that is not my intention. For my love for my Lord I just want to share a little if you let me.

The bible says nothing about spanking. It just says to not spare the rod which means to not spare punishment when your child does wrong to help them learn to be good. That could be something as simple as a time out with a young child. Think of this; a 16 year old is still your child and under your care but you wouldn't spank them would you? That would be silly. Yes what the parents see as fit for punishment is exactly right. It just means to not let things slide. And out of love we teach our children right from wrong; thats all.

And the submit to your husband thing is really just a respect thing and submitting as in a sexual thing. The bible also talks much about men loving and cherishing their wives for example too. Women are just as important! God has just made certain rolls for each and they are both very good and very important and needed!

And even Christians still sin. No one is perfect. Perfection is impossible except for God.

I mean a lot of things in the bible, all boils down to control over ones self, having a balance and being pure, loving and justice, trying and not giving up, having faith, good morals, having a relationship with Jesus (not really a religion thing I guess. one would understand once they found Him).

It is very hard to explain to one who doesn't know Him but all I can say is God loves you very much and He will fulfill you in all ways. You know I didn't know I needed God until I found Him about a year ago. Once I found Him I realized how much I needed Him and He was missing in my life and now I will never let Him go and He promises to never let me go. I need Him. Kinda the same way some one may feel about their husband or boyfriend or anything else they heartfully love; they didn't know how much they needed until they found.

God has proved to me time and time again He is living, the true God and keeps His Word.

Something else to think about is; is that people have so much error and things inflicted that you can't look at a Christian to see what Christianity is about. You have to read the bible for yourself to find out. All these denominations and doctrines and different churches are spoken of in the bible too and God is not pleased with it. His Church is not in a building; it is scattered around the world. One must question and must test everything to see if something is genuine or not. Just because one says the bible says this or that does not mean what they say or do is true or just.

I also don't wanting to offend anyone its just what I see and know. I hope its o.k. I said all this.
THANK YOU! I know a lot of Christians who personally believe that it has to do with spanking and striking your child.

Things in the bible can be EASILY misinterpreted. OR interpreted into what you want it to mean.

Absolutely not. Sticking with that specific passage, it says "submit yourselves to your husbands, as to the Lord". That really means "in a matter fitting the Lord". God is not an abuser. If the husband is abusing his wife, he's not treating her the way he should be treating her. In a different passage in the Epistles, wives are told to "do what is right and do not give way to fear." If the relationship is abusive, it's not the type of relationship that God would want for his children. I would interpret these scriptures that the wife should not put up with it and leave him.

There are actually more instructions in these passages for the husband than for the wife. The instructions are directed at how he should treat her. Abuse is not in those instructions.

Divorce is a separate issue. I'm torn on that, but legal separation with protection from abuse orders would definitely be appropriate.

Absolutely, which is much of the cause for confusion and separation among the various Christian sects throughout history.

100% Atheist. I feel SO much freer not having to worry about "OMG I SINNED GOING TO HELL NOW" and all that. I can do WHATEVER I want, and my only consequences will be the law. I feel so secure in knowing that.
I can assure you that I don't live my life thinking "Oh no I sinned I'm going to hell now"

the point is NOT that you can't SIN. Jesus died so that we can be humans and have sin because it was quite obvious that we are not capable of doing good ALL the time. I have sinned. I know it. God knows it. that doesn't mean I'm going to hell  why do people think that lol.

for me I believe that if I accept Jesus as my saviour... acknowledge that he died so that I would not be "condemmed" for my sins.

I feel free too :)

and I can't just DO whatever I want... I have loved ones to answer to when I act a fool.

I don't believe that it says anywhere in the bible that a woman has to submit to abuse. If your husband is abusing you (obviously I don't mean YOUR husband lol just in general) then he is not fullfilling his duty. he is not following "Husbands love your wives and Christ loved the church..." Just because MAN twists the words to mean that he can beat up on his wife does not mean that God promotes it because he said wives submit to your husbands.

So if man is beating his wife and using that whole "obey and submit" thing as justification... he is only using it as a scape goat.

Indeed, I know from personal experience (during my period as an atheist) and from talking to many athiests, that often the problem is not with the idea of God, but with the behavior of some religious people and the interpretation of religious texts, which can be irrational, violent and repugnant. Some athiests legitimately argue that there is no reason to believe in God, which is a perfectly rational viewpoint, but some are more angry at God and seek to get back at him by not believing in him. (Some are both).

I realized one day that I wasn't angry at God, I was angry at his followers. That wasn't my moment of deciding to believe in God . . . that came later . . . but I realized the distinction between being angry at the very idea of God and being angry and replused by the behavior of a certain number of believers (of various faiths) and their interpretation of religious texts . . . or for that matter being angry at the texts themselves. God is not the same thing as "religion"; religion is a human construct created for the purpose of worshipping God, not the definition of God.

I've often said, "If you make religion your god, you remove God from your religion".

that's one reason why I always refer to it as Faith and not religion. they couldn't BE more different.

Some people just want to justify their horrible behaviour and God is an easy scapegoat. If it wasn't God they would find something else to pervert.

Just out of pure curiosity for those who read and believe in the Bible, how do you explain this passage?

"Do not mate two different kinds of animals. Do not plant your field with two different kinds of seed. Do not wear clothing woven from two different kinds of thread."
