Today is 10 straight days with no housebreaking accidents. The previous record was 5. (Well, technically the previous record was 9, but you know what I mean.) I'm not claiming victory or anything, but double-digits seems like a nice milestone. Of course, she'll probably drop a loaf on the rug as soon as I post this. :)

Here's a shot of my good girl after I convinced her to run through the sprinkler the other day...

Congratulations! Keep up the good work.

But like you said, she's probably peeing as we post in this thread. Don't worry about it. Puppies have an amazing way of relapsing into 8-week old status for on reason. Oh, and they really like to embarrass us when we have friends over. Just wait, next time you have some company and you're gushing that Darby is house trained and so smart, she'll pee right in front of you.

Didn't happen. She's up to 15 days now, and even weathered a day of the runs without an accident. :hail:

EDIT: Unbelievable. Not more than 5 minutes after I posted this, Darby took a leak right in front of me. We'd just been outside 15 minutes before! What a bummer. :(

Well stunnedmonkey I think that it's awsome that she went that long without an accident. I don't even know if Chance has gone that long but he is for the most part reliable, I think that the reason that he has mistakes is because I slack off a little from time to time. I don't watch him like I use to, mainly because he jumps on the back door when he wants to go. But they say they can't be totally reliable until they are six months old. It seems like every other week on the weekend he will take dump in the bathroom. Kinda weird but at least it's not on the carpet or something. He never pee's inside though. He did in his kennel when we would leave during the day but I took out the bedding and never had an problem since.

How much water did she drink when you came back inside?

Sorry, but that's the nature of puppyhood. Try not to worry too much about streaks (I can't believe you counted 15 days)--it will just stress you out for the next couple of months.

Just be patient. One day, all of this will pay off and you will have a lovely, house-trained puppy. You won't feel like she's trying to drive you insane anymore and she will be a source of joy, not stress.

It took us 14 months to get to this point with Herschel but I don't regret a minute of it. :)

Yeah, I wasn't angry or anything, just rather surprised. I barely even reacted other than to dash outside with her.

The only thing I can think of is she'd spent about 30 minutes playing in the yard off-leash with a rambunctious 2-year old Golden Retriever for the first time. They'd met before, but had not played like that. While she clearly enjoyed it, the Golden got a little over-excited a few times which might have been a little too much for her. (Not so much that she didn't go back for more though. :) ) She just might have still been a bit excited or stressed from the session.

As you say, it's all part of the experience. She's not even 4 months yet so we've a ways to go.
