Hello everyone...
I was refered to your site by Saje. I'm an active member over on veggieboards.com. I'm a 28 year old guy from Indiana. I live alone with my dog, cat, and foster animals.
I've owned my dog for about two years now. His name is Mikey and he's a three year old black lab chow mix. His picture is below. He's my first dog, although we always had dogs and cats growing up too.
I started volunteering at an animal shelter in 2002, and later that year started fostering dogs and cats. I currently have two foster dogs and two foster cats. The cats are FIV positive and have to be kept seperate from my own cat who is negative. Their names are Sammy and Cyrano and they can be seen at http://www.petrefuge.com/CatsSpecial.htm
My foster dogs are Samson, a one year old Doberman mix, and Starbucks, a 5 year old Lab/Dalmation mix. Starbucks is the dog in my currenct avatar. I have a habit of taking on the special needs animals, and both of these guys still need a lot of work. Samson is fearful of strangers, and has nipped at people who approached him too fast. Starbucks has also bit people, because he is overly protective of his spaces. They're a handful at times, but I love em.
I keep a scrapbook of all my foster dogs at http://www.helpmegetridofmydog.com/ and I have an online journal where I write about my experiences fostering dogs at http://www.livejournal.com/~HomelessDog/ .. Right now I'm clicker training all my dogs, and this spring (if I still have him) I hope to do some agility training with Starbucks.
