Dammit Dammit Dammit (sorry for the language) I had Jury Duty 12/7. I TOTALLY forgot about it. ARRRGH. It was the day I was attending a seminar for Melissa's financial aid info. and Ashley's Bingo for Books at school later in the day. I just totally didn't think about it. Tony's already flipping at me. Only because it was stupid of me; not to mention an 'up to $2,000.00 fine. I'm usually not that irresponsible, but I had alot on my mind at the time. I'm hoping they didn't need my pool. (I'm hoping it was an off day for the criminals that day, LOL) You had to call the day before to see if you even had to show up. *banging head* I had it even marked on our family calendar! dumb dumb dumb.

I haven't gotten anything in the mail yet for any misconduct? So, I'm hoping I'll be allright. Any advice or past experiences in this circumstance? ARRRGH!

Wow!! a 2,000.00 fine?? Thats a lot for not showing up. Last time I was on Jury duty I got picked and put on a panel but the guy decided he wanted to settle outside of court which was fine with me :D There were a couple of people that didnt show up and I think they sent some police officers to find those people.. good luck ;)

Maybe you should call them. They might forgive you if you call. I would be scared of Massachusetts! I know when I had to do the stupid thing, a couple of people didnt show up, they got phone calls and told to get there. Someone else was picked up and given a ride there.

afraid i did exactly the same thing..missed the date because of family drama and when i read on the back about the fine i postively freaked. I lucked out tho, the trial had been , ican't think of the word they used, but dismissed and i went down as having served my duty. The worst part is i really wanted to go. thought it would be interesting. When i sent the card in saying i would serve i forgot all about putting grandchildren on the bus and meeting the bus and everything else. Just thought wow something new and different to do. wondered if i would make a good sketch artist in court and hoped there would be one i could see.

LOL! Smkie, 99 out of 100 trials are just deadly dull - and even the interesting ones are dull 95% of the time! There have been times I just wanted to beat my head against the bar to stay conscious.

you have no idea how deprived of society i really am...(except here of course) anything at that time would have been an excuse to change a day..meet some people..drive somewhere else besides the store and mom's.

I've only got called once before and my panel was up in the 90's and I didn't need to show up. This card that I responded too didn't have a panel number. I'm sure I can work it out but it just makes me kick myself in the butt why I missed it in the first place. We noticed it a couple of weeks ago, but I didn't want to think about it until after the holidays.

Thanks Renee, I'll check with the clerk's office. Half of them are off for the holidays though which makes me feel even more uneasy. Hoooo Hum, I know more in the business to get me out of it. Just still makes me angry that I missed it.

LOL, don't feel bad about missing it, Avenlee - I missed mine too a few years ago, although Kathy (the Clerk) and I were laughing about how two opposing attorneys would never allow me to sit on a jury, considering what I do. She also said the judge would never allow me to sit on a jury, as that would mean the attorney I worked for might have to come poking around the courthouse himself, and no one wanted that to happen ;)

Do you only do one trial for your jury duties? Here we have to be available for 3 months when your selected. Twice during these 3 months my number was called to go thru the selecting of the jury. Twice I got selected, one was dropped and I had to serve on the other. But for 3 months I had to be available. And we didnt get an option. It was a letter saying saying you will be doing it.

Nooo I didn't get fined $2,000.00. It's just if you don't show up you COULD face up to that amount. Nothing has happened ... yet. If anything, I'm a law abiding citizen, LOL Its really silly when you think about it.

I was notified and being a senior, could have gotten out of if. Didn't and had to check daily to see if I had to report. Finally my name came up ...... was one of 15 (or so) but when questioned I was dismissed. Was a " weed" case and I think they thought Grammy was a little to "pro" depending on the case. I would have liked to gone through it for the experience ...So.........6 wasted hours...
