The beezer and I need some help deciding on a collar. I'm debating on a Paco collar for Joey. I'm eventually going to get one for Bamm as well, but I already know which one I want for Bamm.

I want something 2" wide and I think he would look great in a double layer collar. He has a nice long neck and I like wider collars on him.

The one I'm debating on is the Xdog Deluxe... He looks awesome in blingy stuff and I just think it would look awesome on him. I definitely want all brass hardware... much prefer brass...

I don't know what color leather would complement him the best though (maybe tan?) and I want opinions on what you guys think would look good on him. Is there a collar Paco makes that you think would look better?

Here's the one I'm considering....

http://pacocollars.com/products/the-xdog-deluxe/

Probably wont order his collar until after my birthday since I usually get birthday money. My birthday is in a few weeks though.

Oh and because you need a couple Joey pictures for reference. He is wearing a 2" collar in these pics btw.

Keep in mind a 2" double layer Paco Collar has the potential to be very heavy.

The tan would match his markings, but chocolate or black would really pop! :)

Hmm... I didn't factor that in. Do you think the Xdog would look nice as a 2" single layer? It doesn't have to be a double layer collar. I just really like the width on him. I could do a 1.5" width as well and it would still look nice on him I think.

Eta: he looks good in things that pop for sure.

Did you try holding Cricket's Paco next to him to see how the tan looks? Cuz I THINK it would look great. But I also think chocolate would look really nice too.

He can DEFINITELY pull off the 2" width but I agree that the double layer may be too heavy.

I think so, yes - I have single layer collars on all my dogs, and they look fantastic. I actually prefer them to double layers. The added bonus of doing a single layer is that you'll have more room for BLING if you get an Xdog. ;)

I didn't yet but her collar will actually fit him so when I get home I will try to get a photo of him wearing her tan one. I also have a brown paco I can take a photo of him wearing (jade jojo). It's darkened up so it nearly looks chocolate.

Awesome. I seriously think he would look great in an Xdog. He can pull off the super blingy collars I think. A single layer will probably work out best if I go with this one.

I've also been going back and forth whether to make it a martingale or not since sighthound heads/necks and all, but I walk him on a starmark usually so I may stick with a flat regular collar that he can wear all the time.

Paco martingales are pretty heavy... IMO, if you want something really versatile that you'll use a lot, go with a buckle. :)

Gage has 2 xdogs, one is a double layer 1.5" original chocolate and silver, and the other is a double layer 1.5" in brown and brass. I love the brass but I HATE polishing it lol. I also have a fetching tag bit with his name on the brown one as well. At this point you can't hardly tell the difference in colour between the chocolate and the brown! The only colour I don't have is tan...because I don't like it for my dogs. But maybe this will give you some ideas of how they change colours over time. Gage does live in the though, he swims, runs, plays and everything else in them.

I was going to say the same as Leah...don't go double layer with the Xdog. He doesn't have much coat, and his neck is long enough you can do a 2" easily!

Have you thought about a Jade Ruadh? It's a 1.5" with a smaller second layer.

My vote would go to tan. However, keep in mind the tan will darken significantly over time. I like this darkening, it's almost like getting the color changed without buying a new collar, lol.

Here's a picture I just took. All collars are VERY worn in. You can see in the sig, the tan collar on Lizzie right after she got it.

Top-Bottom: Brown, Tan, Chocolate (new one they had to change to), Old Chocolate.

Managed to get a few photos of him in a couple different color leathers so you guys can actually see him with them on.

This is an older one I found of him in a brown jade jojo

And a close up that I took this evening with my phone (sorry it's blurry)

Here is is trying on Cricket's tan paco. It's darkened up a little.

and a close up

And then put a black ellas lead collar on him. The only worry I have with black is that this ellas lead collar seems to rub a blackish blueish tint into his coat since his neck is white. He wears it sometimes, but not for longer than a couple days before it starts to create a ring around his neck. Maybe that wouldn't be the case with a paco?

All of those collars are 1" wide btw

Good to know. No martingale then. I was leaning more towards buckle anyways since I'd like him to be able to wear it day in and day out. I basically want something he can wear all the time.

I actually really like the Jade Ruadh too. Tan with white spots and brass looks nice with that one imo.

I was worried about Cricket's tan collar darkening up because I loved how bright it was on her when we first got it. It's been aging pretty well though and even though it's darkened some, it still looks pretty good on her and I know it'll probably darken even more since it's still less than a year old.

I think the tan looks good on him, especially once it's darkened up! I think black contrasts too much with his red nose. Gavorche looks great in black because he has a black nose, but I don't care for black on white/red dogs. I personally think the 2" looks a bit big on him, but only slightly. Is 1.75" an option?

I've also been going back and forth whether to make it a martingale or not since sighthound heads/necks and all, but I walk him on a starmark usually so I may stick with a flat regular collar that he can wear all the time.
Logan has a smaller head than neck, too, so I always work him in a martingale. So, I have a martingale from Ella's Lead that he's been wearing for a year now. I love it, and I'm SO glad I chose a martingale. BUT he doesn't wear his collar around the house, since I can't mess up his ruff. He only wears it when we're out.

The only worry I have with black is that this ellas lead collar seems to rub a blackish blueish tint into his coat since his neck is white. He wears it sometimes, but not for longer than a couple days before it starts to create a ring around his neck. Maybe that wouldn't be the case with a paco?

I've NEVER had this problem with Gavroche's Ella's Lead collar, and he's been wearing it 24/7 (with only short breaks to clean/condition it) for the past 2 years. It's black and was initially lined in suede. Gavroche decided to be a water dog this year, so i removed the suede. The only time it ever stained was when he got wet with the suede lining, and after I accidentally got Aussie Leather Conditioner ALL OVER the suede. The suede is not meant to get wet, and it shouldn't be conditioned, so that was pretty obvious as to why it happened. But in normal circumstances, it has never discolored. Now that I removed the suede, it doesn't even discolor when he gets wet. Some day I may choose to get suede reapplied, and if I do I'll go with something besides black. FWIW Logan's collar has never discolored, either - it's dark blue bridle (I think?) leather and it has definitely been wet at time, but it seems to have a super sealed finish. It jsut seems VERY waterproof, more so than any other leather I've handled. I don't know if that's because of the type of leather it is, or if they changed what they use to seal the leather with.

I love the brass but I HATE polishing it lol.
I have been TRYING to get Logan's brass to tarnish/patina, but it just WON'T lol. I don't think I use it/handle it enough, so it's taking forever. I would never polish brass on a collar, I LOVE the patina it gets. That may be in part because it's a steampunk collar, and I want that worn look. But I just in general don't care for shiny, polished brass.

Personally, I like contrast, and I think a black/dark brown/tan collar would look beautiful in that white neck. But something with the same brown of his spots would look terrific.

I really like the new design that Paco is going to be adding to their site. It's called the Stardust:

I think Joey would look amazing in a single layer 1 3/4" collar. He looks good in tan and black, but I would pick chocolate. I think the contrast would be really nice!

As my dogs are long hair, you can't really see collars whether they are deluxe or not.
So I get single layered ones and love them.
I do have the Pandora Deluxe which is nice cos it's an 1in wide.
I did try the 1 1/2 but the buckle was too heavy, for my girls and it marked the coat but that wouldn't happen, with yr boy.
I do like yr choice and it would look great on yr dog.
You could try mixed metals.
I,also,like the GLOW.

Nova has a Paco martingale and it isn't that heavy at all. Maybe his was made differently? I don't know their colors well enough to tell you what color it is. They don't typically do the style of collar that I prefer. His is fishtail shaped which is (in my opinion) much more elegant on a long sighthound neck than a normal flat collar. I don't mess with martingales on the Beezers much though since their heads are bigger than my Greyhounds' and Galgo's. I typically just put leather fishtail/European/lurcher buckle collars on them. Nova was chosen for his as a tester dog. It is 3 inches wide in the front and tapers to an inch. If you like the style maybe you can ask them to make you one? The color really stands out on him.
