Yesterday morning I woke up and Duke's face looked like this...

Nothing was wrong with him when I went to bed but 5 hours later this was staring right back at me. I took him to the vet and she wasnt too sure what was going on. She said it looked like he tramatized it himself by rubbing it on a crate or something. We decided to treat it as a bug bite that he tramatized and if it got worse then he was to come right back and I scheduled to go back Saturday to have him recheck to see if it was healing. Fast forward to last night. I come hom from work and this is whats looking at me....

It got much worse. I called the vet today but she wasnt in and Ill only see two of them that work at the office. The other was at another clinic down the street but she was only in till 1pm.

This morning it looked like this...

And in the afternoon after I cleaned it it looked like this...

What is wrong with my dog. Saturday cant come soon enough. It looks so sore and painful. I feel awful for him. He's being really good with letting me clean it only protesting a bit. I just dont understand how in 5 hours he goes from fine to that. At the vet we will be more than likely taking swabs from it to test to see whats going on. Since we dont even know it he can pass it on we have Duke on lockdown keeping him away from the other dog. He stays up stairs only to come downstairs when I am taking him out.

Please send vibes to Duke, He can realyl use them right now.

WOW. That looks really painful, and it looks like a really bad allergic reaction to something - almost like boils.

Vibes sent for Duke!!

Youch. Vibes for Duke. I've only ever seen one thing like that, when somebody put battery acid on my friend's GSD's snout. :( Her's didn't get progressively worse though. Is it possible he stuck his nose into some cleaner somewhere? Like, the toilet got cleaned and he put his nose in it maybe? Poor guy.

Right now for treatment its medicated shampoo and to try to keep it clean and dry the best I can. This was based on what it looked like in the first pic. The vet didnt want to push meds if it wasnt needed. As we can all see now it is whats going to be needed and this will be discussed Saturday when I take him back to the vet. Ive been really busy with work so Duke hasnt been out much and when he is hes on leash. So I dont think it was anything outside but you never know. The only thing that stands out is when we did come in from our last time outside he was licking his leg alot and then next morning his face looked like that. The whole house is dog proof, so I cant seeing him getting into anything. Im just so stressed with him and feel so bad. Only thing is hes such a trooper. Been really good the last day.

Yikes.

I have no clue what it is, but I have seen dogs get lesions in that area of their nose from lupus. But not usually that bad, or that big, or that "bubbly"...

It looks like it got swollen like when my dog's face was swelling from being bit. We realized it was from ants that were in the dirt we took from the front of our home and used to fill a hole in the backyard.

Hope he feels better soon.

Oh wow, that looks horrible. You must be really scared. Maybe an allergic reaction to something? I know my dog Rocky is allergic to certain things and scratches her ears until they bleed and it kind of looks like that but not even as close to what yours look like.

How is he doing now? Any news?

I had the same thought as Romy ... some kind of acid burn from something he got into. Another thing that can cause quick reaction is a spider bite.

Please let us know how Duke is doing and what the vet said.

Poor baby. :( Looks chemical in some fashion, either man-made or a reaction to a bite(s). Hope he heals up quickly!

I agree . Since he was licking his leg , I wonder if there was something on the grass .

^^ Smart thought!!

Maybe some kind of weed killer, pesticide, or lyme? They use a TON of that kind of stuff on golf courses to keep the greens so perfect looking. Has Duke been roaming around on any golf courses lately?
