I'm asking for a friend who has a miserable Saint Bernard. He is 6 years old and has had this problem since they moved into her new house 2 years ago.
He is itching mostly along his belly, chest and back of legs. He has a few itchy spots on his back but the majority is on his belly and chest area. There are some bumps/welts in the itchy areas. He is scratching himself bald and has in the past created open wounds from scratching so much.
She has taken him to a vet who has prescribed steroids and benadryl. She just started Raw feeding in case it's an allergy issue but is not seeing any improvement (she didn't expect miracles though). My feeling is it is something environmental but I need some ideas to help her look for it. She is planning on moving soon but until then, any ideas to help her pup be more comfortable?
