Hi all, I have a 7 1/2 year old Cane Corso named Bram. On New Years eve while he was on a mid-day walk his last 2 squirts of urine before going in had an orangeish tinge to them. Needless to say I got pretty nervous when I saw this so I kept an eye on him when I took him out again that night and everything was fine. Its been fine until today. His urine was still the proper color when I took him out; but once we got back inside he laid down next to me for a bit, when he got up from where he was laying there were a couple of spots of blood on the hardwood floor. I checked him out and there was a bit of blood on the end of his sheath. Needless to say it was off to the vet we went. Once I got there I got a urine sample and the vet took a blood sample and checked him over. He said overall he's in excellent condition for his age; but his prostate is a bit enlarged. He said it wasn't enough to be concerned about, and seeing that Bram's about 60 in people years not really unexpected. When the vet was going over Bram he pulled back his sheath and said that the penis its self looked irritated. He squeezed the end of it and blood tinged fluid sprayed out. He said it could just be a scratch or irritation that's gotten infected (I hope to God) so He gave him a shot of antibiotics and gave me some Clavamox to give Bram over the next 10 days. I'll get the lab results tomorrow but for tonight I have every bad scenario running through my head. Has anyone else had a dog with symptoms like these? Anyone have any idea what else it might be? I've thought of a few kinds of cancer, but he hasn't been acting any differently, has a normal appetite, always wants to play. So for right now I'm just holding my breath waiting for that phone call tomorrow. Depending on the results he said he may have to see Bram again, sedate him and have a better look at the urethra which makes me nervous to as I don't know how Corsos do under sedation, and especially when they're older. Any Ideas or past experiences would be appriciated.

IME, orange-y urine could be a sign of increased bilirubin which is a symptom of liver problems. I expect they'd be looking for that in the bloodwork.

Dogs with enlarged, infected prostates may drip some blood from the penis.

I'm sure your vet will have more answers for you once the bloodwork is done.

Thanks for your responses, I'm praying that its something minor that the antibiotics will knock out; but we'll find out tomorrow afternoon. I'll let you know.

Any updates?
It's probably too late, but I know that I don't like to give my Boxer Ace for sedation. I would maybe recommend the same if there was any doubt about possible reaction. Also, and others may already know this, but is he neutered?
