I was wondering how many of us have to keep a close eye on our dogs? I ask this as many dogs end up missing this time of year because they run to get away from the noise.

None of mine are hiding or seem to be scared. This will be Reds second year for fireworks last year he was just a wee lil puppy.
We will see!

Addie is 4, and didn't become frightened of thunder til age 2. wellllll...she thinks fireworks are thunder! meanwhile we have had so many storms lately that additional fretting from fireworks makes me happy they'll be over tomorrow! so far she hasn't freaked out over guns....but we'll see this year during hunting season! pretty soon she'll be frightened of everything at this rate! when she gets all worked up, then Hammie does too.

Tamlyn is deathly afraid of fireworks, so this is always a difficult time of year for him. This is Cissy's first Fourth with us, so we shall have to see how she reacts. She's less nervous than her brother, so perhaps she'll be okay.

Nope, neither one of the boys is bothered by fireworks. Ripley gets a little skittish if he's on the ground and there are fireworks going off really close by, but he's bombproof if I'm holding him.

Nah, no scaredy pups here. When the fireworks go off they both stop and try to figure out where it's coming from (if it's not readily visible) and once they find the source they want to watch or go over and investigate.:)

Nope. Except for Joe, because of his past. But I am working on desensitizing him to many things. My dogs as puppies where subjected to many things including loud noises, to nuetralize them to strange noises and environments.

They barked and wagged their tails like mad. Not letting them outside during fireworks though.

For thunder, they just totally ignore it.

I just took Andy (14 wks.) out to potty, and I think this was the first time he heard the neighbors shooting off the fireworks. He got all puffed up and growled a little bit, but after a few of them he lost interest and was ready to go back inside to bed. He has the attention span of a gnat sometimes

Unfortunently no. Last time BD saw fire works we where at a neighbors house and when the mortar was brought out all 3 dogs that where there wanted to look down the tube every time a shell was lit. Leashes are mandentory for dogs not afraid of fireworks.

Missy is afraid of the fireworks. She's coping well, however, seeing the (non) reaction of the other two, who couldn't care less. We're very tired, we haven't got much sleep the past couple of nights ;)

Not in the least, thank God. They also aren't bothered by storms any, which is a double blessing. My old dog was a "storm dog" and you could kiss any sleep goodbye if it was thundering, or the wind started blowing at all.

Mine HATE the fireworks. They don't go sailing through any windows or anything yet- but they do pace and pant.

And yet they are only 5 mos old and have never been around them. How odd...
