I tried all the suggestions given here (all very good ones) and she still wasn't eating. She sleeps 90% of the time. I took her to a new vet last week and she said that she felt 2 puppies (she's approx 5 weeks....I know because my daughter brought her male pomeranian over to my house when I was out and neglected to tell me that they had mated). The vet did not confirm this with an ultrasound etc. She took blood and a stool sample and said that they were all normal. Also she didn't seemed concerned that she wasn't eating. The vet gave me some sort of concentrated calorie canned food....which of course she wouldn't eat. They tried to feed her treats and different types of food in the office but she wouldn't touch any of it.
She isn't going to have the puppies but the vet can't spay/abort her until mid July. I am going to see if another vet can do it sooner. I am concerned about my pup....is all this normal when they are pregnant?
Also the vet said that I could give her 1/2 of a regular Pepsid pill. Have any of you heard of this? She has been vomiting this yellow foamy stuff. I did tell the vet about it...again she didn't seem concerned.
The vet didn't lighten my concern (only my wallet) because she treated me like all this was nothing and as if I were being silly for worrying. I won't be going back to that vet....

So sorry to hear all this. You definitely need a new vet, I just moved on from mine. I think it's fairly normal but Love4Pits or Bubbatd would be the right people to ask I hope she feels better soon

yeah cottage cheese and plain yogurt. My dog was HORRIBLE about eating dog food and it seemed for the first few days yogurt and cottage cheese was what kept her alive.

You could always cook some oatmeal and mix in some chicken broth? It is very digestable and gentle on the stomach. I usually cook it and then mix in the chicken juice from the cooked canned chicken. My sick dogs usually always eat it.

She was spayed on 6/28 and is feeling much better...playing and much more perky. She is still weird about food and I think she always will be. I've had other small dogs (toy poodles and schnauzers) and they weren't fussy eaters at all.

I know this has been hard for you.....if you feed kibble, I would add a little cottage cheese and chopped hard boiled egg.....moisten with some broth . Your daughter needs to know what she put you and your poor baby through !!! I had to termnate a puppy litter which was hard emotionally and costly. I'm glad you did the best for your your baby. Let us know how she's doing .
