When I was in the band My hearing got alot worse. I sat behind the trumpets.
I sit next to the trumpets and other brass instruments, I don't think I lost any hearing. What I find interesting tho is how girls can talk so quietly! One girl was like mouthing words to me and I was mouthing words back... turns out we were talking about two different things, lol

on the news today it was talking about the really loud music and i do not know about going deaf but it said you could lose like over 50% of your hearing or whatever. this one guy or w/e listens to his ipod all the time and listens to it really loud and lost like 40% of his hearing and hears a constant ringing sound in his ear all the time.

any noise over 130 decibel will cause nerve damage, and nerves cannot be repaired. the concern over loud music, especially at concerts is so real because people naturally start losing hearing over age 30....it happens so gradually and isn't always a big deal. But, add to that a young person already exposed to noise and their chances are greater to have significant hearing loss at an earlier age. if you experience ringing after noise, music or other...then there is damage even if slight. Most of the people I had fit with hearing aides were men that worked in factories, etc. prior to OSHA rules to provide hearing protection. Young people won't want to do this, but wearing those soft little earplugs to concerts would be such a help. There are custom earmolds for musicians/band members that filter yet allow you to hear......I've been curious if they are ever mentioned to band members in school??
