Aw! Poor Trey! lol He is a pretty big boned guy, isn't he. He definitely looks thin there, but looks great overall and his coat is so thick and gorgeous. (When he hasn't been shaved. lol)

I think she looks great. So many dogs are overweight these days. She is still young, she has lots of energy. I wouldn't worry about it.
Boy is really thin too, but you can't see it through all the hair. Some people are really surprised when they see him wet for the first time, because then you can see how thin he really is.

I keep my dogs lean, but their fitness is a product of not only their energy, but mine. I'm an active person, and my dogs more than fit my lifestyle.

My rule of thumb is I do not like to see sharply protruding hips nor a lack of muscle mass. I like to see a healthy, lean dog... Not an emaciated, under-fed one.

Here is one of my females, Sadie. She is eating approximately 4.5 cups of California Natural per day. We walk daily and run 5 times a week. She enjoys playing fetch and catching Frisbees.

I also don't have the worry of harsh winters, so adding weight this time of year isn't a big concern.

Buster is really hard to get to eat soemtimes, I used to give him a bone, he's run off. Sit with it till he knew I thought he had eaten it, come back get another etc till all dogs had been fed and he had a piles of chicken legs he could sit outside and worry about and not eat.
Now I feed him, he has 3 tries of me handing it to him. If he doesn't eat it after the thrid go I just pick it up and give it to Sophie, then hand him another. He catches on pretty soon the food is gone if he doesn't eat it.
He stays pretty trim that way.

Over the last year or so I think some of the ACD genes are sliding in and he's getting sloppier looking. His skin isn't as tight anymore. that said he's not nearly as fit as I want him. It used to be easy to give him good offleash runs everyday, now I'm lucky if he gets them once a week and I;ve cut them out nearly all together latley as I'm worried about snakes.

He put on a bit of weight over winter but has lost it now, I want to work him up so he's fit and lean again. I keep him a good weight but he's not as muscley as I want him.

This is him in fine form taken a couple of years ago.
