I think Kenya looks stunning! She looks like a nice, fit, toned dog.
Anyone who says that she looks starved is probably in denial about their own, overweight dog. I rarely say ANY dog looks starved, unless they are lacking muscle tone, and they have boney protrustions. I see evidence of neither on Kenya.
I get two different, but equally annoying, opinions on both of my dogs. Gonzo looks too skinny... and Fozzie looks fat. Gonzo is at PERFECT weight, and his muscle tone is insane. Fozzie is also very muscular and as far as his body shape, I'm convinced that he is simply not meant to be a lean dog. He has super thick bone structure, and I honestly think he would look weird if he was as lean as Gonzo is. He's still very agile, fast, healthy, and has a tuck-up and palpable ribs. But people see that he is low to the ground and "big boned" and call him chubby.
He is fed a very high quality diet in half the amount that the average dog of his weight would be fit on. (<1 lb of raw, or 1.5 cups of kibble) Just like people, dogs come in different shapes and sizes and types, even dogs of one breed, and differ in what is "healthy" for them.
Some people are fanatics, on either end of the scale. A
lady on my Flyball team called Gonzo "pudgy"... WHA? Her BC was very, very, very thin - borderline sighthood thin. She was also of a totally different style/body type than Gonzo and I tried to make that point, but she had her mind made up. Some people say that Fozzie is leaner than any Corgi/mix they have ever seen... which might be true... while others think he's way overweight. Usually, their assumptions and judgements are based purely on their own dog and what they have come to see, in close-minded fashion, as the ONLY way a dog should look.
