Honestly, if you DECIDE to start using another culture's slang it doesn't come off the right way. The inflection sounds fake. It sounds like you are forcing it. I used to try to use dude or bro several years ago and it always came off forced. Then I moved to the west coast and "dude" rubbed off naturally. :rofl1:

Well, the fact that you think so deeply about it and make a concious decision to do so is more wierd. JMO

lol. I've picked up a lot of English slang from reading books that were written by English authors. And some of my spelling is weird because of it. Like grey. Most people in America normally spell that gray, but I've read it for so long as grey, that it doesn't look right to me.

And, now that I've said something about the slang, I can't think of a blasted thing.

Oh, I say bugger a lot. :p I'm not sure if that's something or not, but I don't know anyone around here that says that without having picked it up from me, and it's in a lot of stuff that I've read. Someone from the UK/England/Wherever feel free to correct me.

Well, if they question you on it you could always say "bloody hell, I didn't even reckon I was chirping that mate!"

Hey they are just words and don't belong to anyone, if you wanna use them use them ;).

So is it not common for people to say bugger, bloody hell or mate from over your side of the pond?

Nobody here says them...but I do live in Pennsylvania ;)

I like the way Ron Weasley says bloody hell in the Harry Potter movie, it's my favorite part. :p

I say bloody hell a lot and never really thought much of it. I've said it so many times over the years that it really is just a part of my vocab. Now... I may sound a bit different when I say it than Ron Weasely, but that's cuz I'm stuck with no accent at all... even in my normal everyday speech... at least no accent that I'm aware of anyways... lol
