Yep that's me. According to a coworker I'm an irresponsible pet owner because I bring my dogs places like bbq's, softball games, parades, etc. According to her no one can expect their dog to behave with all those people and food smells. That I'm just asking for my unbehaved heathons to bite some one. All the food smells bring about the blood lust in them and they become unruly man eaters. According to her everybody that has dogs should leave them at home and not socialize them.

The only dog she ever had bit her because it was untrained and not socialized. She rehomed it, and blamed it on the dog, not on her inability to educate herself. The only information that she has is the bias newspaper articles that she has read. The only reason that I say she's wrong is because I have dogs so of course I'm going to think otherwise...

I litteraly had to bite my toung and not say anything to her, because it would've turned into a huge argument.

This would be the same coworker that thinks all pitts are evil.

End of rant...sighs...

Yesterday, we went to a place in PA called Peddler's Village - a very quaint area with little shops and restaurants. Very upscale. EVERYBODY had a dog. This lady would have died there. I went into a Coach store to look at a handbag and someone had a boxer puppy in there (she was trying on a collar!!). Whoever this lady was needs some education. There are many places throughout the world that welcome pets and animals - even cruise ships!! She needs to get out more!!

I hear ya Shazbot, I take our dogs to the soft ball games, stores, parks, anywhere they are welcome. Not only does it socialize them, they are part of the family and I can't imagine just having them stay home all the time.

You know the old saying, you can lead a horse to water................

Some folks only hear what they want to hear, I wouldn't have waisted my breath arguing with her either.

It just drives me nuts, that she acts like she knows everything about dogs when in fact she has absolutely no clue. Even the people around us had to walk away because she was spewing such ignorance.

Well, thats how people of the world think these days. *Sigh* I would be ready to sock this women I mean every one has freedom of speak but we all have the right to think differently. I would have done the same thing bit my tounge(try to anyway) and walked away. There is no hope for people like that.

some people never get it. I made the mistake with Buzzy and didn't socialise hhim properly with dogs. I am so greatful he's fine with people though, and I wonder how he is with how he was treated.

And ofcourse as soon as a dog smells food they go into a killing frenzy, everyone knows that  don't we all.

Oh she would hate me then. I take Blaze to as many large things as I can. Its a great place for socialization. And as he is a shy dog it boosts his confidence to not be so wary of strangers. Just this weekend we went to a halloween fair/parade. he lvoed it. he adores little kids and they were all over him. it was in the same park our dog park is located in so he is used to the area so he was very happy to be there. He even met so large animals (they had a petting zoo) He loves horses, i used to bring him with me to a farm i worked out. He was in love with the drafts at the parade lol

I'm dying at this one.
"Mmmm, BBQ! Smells so good....
....
MUST... EAT... HUMAN...."

Some people are just abysmally stupid, and there's nothing to be done about it.

Guess she would have a fit with me then as I feed raw...encouraging my gang to lust for blood. Some people have the common sense of a thimble

OMG Purdue, you have me laughing so hard my tummy hurts...lol...

adojrts: what's funny is that's what brought the whole conversation on, she asked if I was bringing any kids to work for the halloween party and said only if I could dress my dogs in costumes and bring them...then she took it from there...

and you know it just had to be wafting into the window and the woman probably thought it was my dad!

It just has to be potent when you are in the car and can't get out.
