My name is Chris and I just bought a 3 month year-old Golden Retreiver. Her name is Amber. Every one was shocked that I got a dog because up until recently, I was never really a dog person. My brother has a two year-old dog that's part yellow Lab with one or two other unknown breeds. My step-mom has a Papillon that I pretty much hate because of his yapping problem. She and my dad think it's cute, but every one else hates it.
Before I got my pup, I was a reptile person. At one point, I had two Cali. King snakes, two rosy Corn snakes, a green Tree Frog, an Anole, a Grass Lizard, a newt, and a three-foot African Lizard. My step-mom hates snakes and she "forbade" me to get any kind of python. She thinks they're dangerous due to ignorance. She told me I could buy snakes that didn't get past six feet. I ended up trading in all of my repts for a Borneo Red-Blood Python, which gets up to five or six feet and she and my dad threw a fit, so I let them get their way and gave the snake away.
I've had it with reptiles for the moment. In a way, it's a good thing I got rid of them because I bought Amber who I've begun to love. She's friendly, playful, smart, and a pleasure to have. I'm trying to train her as quickly as possible. I do the Petco bath every two weeks and basically treat her like a child.
My goal for pets is to keep up with Golden Retreivers and have a couple of snake giants. My dream is to have a Reticulated Tiger Python and a Green Anaconda and give them their own rooms to roam in.
