I stumbled across this forum thru a google search and have lurked enough that I thought I should say, "hi!"
I'm a late bloomer with dogs. I've always loved animals and have had cats and different exotic pets, but was never much interested in dogs. In fact, I was raised to be terrified of any dog over 30lbs that wasn't a lab.
Five years ago my girlfriend at the time and I bought a house. Since we had a yard, she suggested we get a dog. She wanted a rotti and I wanted a lab, but we ended up with this little girl as a 16 week old puppy.
Lady
She was given to us by an aquaintance who decided they didn't have "time for her". Supposedly her daddy was a hulking UKC registered apbt and her momma' was a more true-to-form ABDA registered apbt. She came out tall and lean and sweeter than sugar.
Her bright demeanour, quick wit and passion to please opened the floodgates for not only a love of dogs, but those dogs I had most been terrified of all my life.
About a year ago I started working at a grooming, daycare and boarding facility. Initially, I planned to get the experience to then move on to animal control. Now; however, I'm not sure if I have the heart or stomach to face that on a daily basis (I want half the dogs at work and they HAVE homes). Irregardless, I'm now the "office manager" and basically do everything but cut hair. The idea of learning to train dogs proffesionally is growing on me (how I ended up at chazhound, actually).
Working with dogs 60 hours a week; however, the "interest" is now getting outta' control.
Also, a couple of months ago I added this gal to my family.
Baby
She was boarded at work because her owner was getting heart surgey. He didn't make it. I agreed to foster her, but I'm starting to think she's found her forever home.
Anyways, "hi" and here's a couple more pics of the dogs.
