I'm going to have to agree with what Red, Nolu and others said about the socializing situation. Red has been involved with Rotties for a long time and has loads of experience with dealing with these sorts of situations, DA etc. Also, as was mentioned, always be careful around dog parks. You may have a dog that's perfect around other dogs but you cannot guarantee that the other dogs in the park are fine with other dogs. I've seen too many people bring their DR, DA dogs into dog parks thinking their dogs would be fine only to regret it later when something terrible happens. Why take that risk? Anyways, she really is adorable! Can't wait to see more pictures of her.

Good to see you and your pretty girl :)

If I followed the standard Fila line on raising my dogs I'd have a Fila who couldn't be out in public at all. I did what you are doing, though, and believed enough in my dogs' intelligence and learning ability and gave them broad experience to base their ability to discern what is normal behavior and what is threatening and to learn to be completely confident in their own capabilities and to trust in me as well. And so we are proving that even a traditional, hard Fila is capable of living and moving about in the modern world :)

I think as long as you can be hyper-vigilant but relaxed enough to not transfer that to your dog, socializing her through her youth will pay you good dividends in the long run, especially if you are staying aware that things can change suddenly when they mature. They don't always, but the possibility is there and we stay aware, and bottom line is we look out for our dogs :)

Keep up the good work -- and be vigilant!

I think I am being super vigilant first and foremost she is the love of my life and my baby and would feel aweful if something happened to her. Second I'm always watching to see her reactions and that of other dogs she meets. I'm well aware that personalities can change in a moments notice that is another reason I had her spayed as early as possible also. She has not shown an ounce of aggression and I hope it stays that way but I'm also aware that she is still a pup. She did have an incedent with a French Bulldog about two weeks ago when a male Frenchie decided he didn't like her and proceeded to lunge and attempt to bite her numerous times. I placed her in a sit position and she just looked up at me while this dog tryed to get her. I finally had to grab the dog by the collar and hand him to the owner. I was so proud that she just sat there as calm as possible, this is by no means a DP thing this can happen walking down the street if a stray comes walking up, I was just so proud how well my baby just sat and stayed through the whole thing with total trust in her dad.

She is stunning!

My friend has a mix, and hes about 6 months old now. We were at the DP, and a fight broke out and he ran all the way across the park to grab onto a boston terrier. My roommate had to pry open his mouth to get him off. She is determined to have him be a good DP dog, but is open to the fact it may not work out. She keeps him right by her now, and keeps his visits short, and makes sure she is right there when any new dogs come in.

Shes trying to nip it in the bud, and her staying right near him, and working on his recall and using positive reinforcement is helping a LOT. He hasnt had an incident since.

My advice, (I have a leash reactice, protective GSD that cannot go to the DP) is to simply make sure you are watching her at all times, because while she is very friendly, if a fight breaks out, she may want to get involved. thats exactly what my friend did. this dog would never hurt a FLY, sweetest thing ever. but when the fight broke out his whole mentality changed.

So I would just say to stay on top of things, and I wish you luck with her. She truly is gorgeous!
