my dog ate a piece of a paper muffin wrapper (maybe 1.5-2 inches?) yesterday...I'm away at school, so I wasn't here when it happened. My sister and mom however have told me that he hasn't pooped since yesterday. We called the vet today because he was straining to poop but couldn't, but they ddin't sound very concerned, told us to watch him and bring him in on monday if he still can't.

now, this dog has eaten pretty much anything. he swallowed 2 pads in the past and both passed through within a couple days.

but since he hasn't passed yet, i'm just wondering if this should be of something to be worried about. he's eating/peeing/drinking normally, no bloating or abdominal pain, etc.

should i be worried about an intestinal block or anything?

thanks!

Since they are aware and watching ... I wouldn't worry right now .

I'd be concerned....especially if he produces blood when trying to go. That would be an emergency vet visit ---I just went through something similar with my dog. I'd watch your pup for any signs of discomfort, unusual behavior, etc. and call again--or get to a vet for a visit.

i'd just keep watching. if he starts acting "off", starts vomiting, or starts refusing food, i'd get him into the vet. but at this point, there's really not much to do but wait and see.

nope, no blood when trying to go.
otherwise no discomfort either, normal appetite, he's taking his afternoon nap right now.

everything else seems rather normal...and he's eaten bigger things before and had no problems.
