this 9 month old stag belongs to a friend in southern utah. he introduced catahoula into his line over 10 years ago. he kept mostly merles for ID in the field. this is the first time he has had this color pattern pop up.

It's funny what can crop up sometimes. I remember years ago working with a lady with a really extensive linebreeding of blue rex rabbits that she had been working with for 20+ years and suddenly she had a pointed one crop up. She had never owned a californian marked rabbit - never had one in the barn but there he was. She went back in her paperwork to the original 8 animals she purchased and there it was. 4th generation back a single californian colored animal.

Beautiful, I saw this and immediately wondered if that breeding is any relation to the catahoula / lurchers I saw worked in Idaho but i guess that was a good 15 years ago...

Want! Aside from markings, what did the catahoula add as far as performance? Some day I need a nice stag.

That, ladies and gentlemen, is an amazing looking dog.

Pops, does this particular dog seem to be "The One"?

color pattern yes
performance, it's too early to tell as he is only 10 months. the dog is 30-31" about 80# & expected to finish at 31-32" & 100#
