dogsitter needed

We are looking for a semipermanent dogsitter. Our Husky is too big for our new apartment, and we need a paid dogsitter to give him a great home. Max is a quiet, well trained older indoor dog with a super great personality. He does not do well with small children, but is otherwise very friendly, enthusiastic and loving. We would like to have planned visits, outings with him, but for the most part, he will be home with you. We will cover food, vet expenses, plus provide $100/ month compensation for you. This is a great opportunity for someone who would love to have a big warm companion, who will be a paid roomate and good company!
If I was still dogless and planning on being in the same place for the life of the dog, I'd probably jump on that. I can see it getting complicated at times, but I think it's kind of interesting that someone cares enough to realize they can't offer everything their dog needs, but still wants the dog in their life and well-cared for. Better than dumping it at the pound.

I've always wondered how the dog feels about situations like that. Either way, much better than being dumped at a shelter. :)

If the dog is full time living with another family, it will adapt to that home like it is "theirs". Does it confuse the dog/stress the dog if its old owners routinely visit/take him places? Or do they just adapt and view it like two "homes"? (Like, one big happy family? LOL)

Well there are people that have dog walkers come to exercise their dogs, I've taken other people's dogs places for training., or people that have dog sitters when they go somewhere. I would think it's similar to that.

I guess the difference in my mind is that the "dog sitter" would be the one with the dog 99% of the time, and the "owners" would become like a typical dog walker. I could see that becoming an issue if the dog sitter became attached like an owner, and the owners still wanted to call all of the shots even though they only saw the dog maybe once a week. So I guess it isn't so much the dog not adapting to a new home, but that the resulting actions of the humans who don't realize their role has reversed could make things dicey. Not to mention I'm not sure Chloe would adapt well to a new place if I kept popping in every few days. She'd just become more stressed out that I'm not taking her with her. (Course, this is Chloe and she'd stress out over anything.)

Most dogs are incredibly adaptable, especially when they are younger. It could be a great life, lol. Imagine how spoiled
But, yes, this is true too! :D

wow....so basically someone pays you to have a dog, and covers the cost of food and vet care? Now that is a deal I'd jump on.

I second this.

As long as everyone is honest and upfront about the rules and guidelines from the start so there is no confusion I think that sounds like a great solution for everyone involved, dog included.

I agree that it could work out if everything is clearly spelled out between the human parties and it shows thought and caring on the part of the current people who would still love to be a part of his life.
Hope they are able to find just the right person/family who can make it happen.
