Hello All,

I spend ome time reviewing the board, and don't normally post. I do have a questions I am hoping you experts can help me with. I am looking for a dog chew toy, or heck any toy for that matter, that is as close to indestructible as possible. I have a 1YO Jack Russell, he is a great little dog, however, he can take a toy out in no time. Stuffies - forget it - gone in minutes. Rope type toys (Booda bones, tug ropes, etc) - he can cut through the strings pretty darn quick, and I don't want him eating the strings. Kong - the last heavy duty (black color) Kong lasted about 15 minutes before he was tearing the rubber. Tennis balls, stripped of fuze super quick.

Any suggestions for a good toy, that will last for more than a few hours very welcomed! Thanks!

Being an owner of a pet supply store my crew get to test most every toy that comes in for durability and whether they like the toys. I have pretty avid chewers....Not 1 toy has lasted really if they really like it it will last a day or 2. The toughest toys I have found to be the Black Kongs, Kong wubbas, Fat cat crinkle skunk, the tuffies would probably last my dogs maybe a week, Kyjen fire hose toys these are about the toughest toys you can get really. I do have 1 toy that has lasted for 5yrs and that toy is a hard ball that is made by jolly ball it does have tons of teeth marks but its the only thing that has lasted.

Cheap chews like cow hooves last about a week here.

Have you tried the blue kong? It's supposed to be tougher than the black one. My dogs are gentle on their kongs so I haven't had a need to buy one but I was thinking of mass-ordering some for the shelter dogs.

Thanks for the ideas. Perhaps a blue kong, a nylabone, and a kyjen will make it home tonight for a test drive!

Orson goes through toys like crazy too.

I would suggest a Cuz...........I don't know if it is because Orson likes it, or it's just that tough, but Orson has kept his in pretty good shape for quite awhile now.

Also, get some fleece at walmart in the reminants area (cheap!!! like .50-1.00 a roll) and cut you three strips and tightly braid it! Orson LOVES it and it lasts for about a week or so............but when you figure you made it for about .25 it doesn't hurt so bad to toss it and braid a new one! LOL

Thanks All. Ranger does love the fleece braids, we have done that, and you are right, it isn't near as painful on the wallet. We do have to watch him very close with the fleece though, he loves to "shred" it. Don't want him eating fleece.
