There were 2 dogs that just left the boarding facility that I work at. Both dogs are on Sentinel (or something similar) and were previously on Frontline. One dog doesn't get any ticks, the other frequently get ticks that won't die after they bite.

Anyone hear of immunities to topical tick meds?

Sentinel doesn't kill ticks. So if that is what you are referring to, then it is no surprise that the dogs have ticks that won't die. Lol It is an oral heartworm medication that is also a broad spectrum dewormer and contains a flea growth inhibitor.

As for topicals, I've definitely heard of products loosing their efficacy in certain regions, especially Frontline. I haven't had this issue, but i suspect thats because I don't have an issue with fleas or ticks. (My dogs aren't on a topical.)

Oh geez, I need to explain too... They didn't get ticks here lol. They came in with them.

I get all the topicals messed up and I've been working too much this week so I'm extra confused haha.

It sounded like they keep changing the topical because they can't find one that works for him. But the other, she never gets ticks.

I've always wondered how effective topicals are for some dogs, not only if they're applied incorrectly (not all on the skin, bathed too soon before or after, etc.), but if the dog has poor skin health.
