Well thats what you might think if you could hear him when me and charlie are outside. Poor guy just wines and wines :(

I don't think I have written about the situation yet, so here goes...

I speak with my neighbor and he tells me his son is getting a boxer mix. Cool I'm thinking he's adopting from a shelter. Nope, I don't think so, a few days later I see a puggle in the yard. Cute guy, but hes in the yard a bit much... A matter of days later there is another dog there, definatly not a puggle, looks like a hearding type breed or something (i'll have to take pictures and let you experts decide) The puggle was seen for another day or so but has not been seen since.

The dog is left outside a lot, but has a dog house, food and water from what I have seen, but he's so lonely :(

There is an old gate between our properties, but I cannot seem to open it. At one point the dog dug a hole underneath the fence and got in to play with my fiance and Charlie for half an hour before owner came outside. It's so sad though :(

I think I should go over knock on there door and tell them I would like to have the gate open so he can come visit in our yard. I don't think they would mind considering the dogs get along and it would stop his whining. I think I might send my fiance because I'm not sure how I would react if they said no :(

Does anyone else have a similar situation with a dog next door?

I can relate to the nieghbors dogs yowling like I'm torturing them when I train my dogs in the backyard, or take them for walks. It's a house to lots back with 4 medium-large dogs. The collie used to jump the fence and come over to my house, so now the owner has to tie him or stay outside with him to supervise.
:) Which is why I may dog sit when the owner goes on vacation  "Bob" is a cool dog, he and Missy are buddies :D

I don't think it hurts to ask... ;)

I take ours on walks with walker sometimes let them rip and tear through the woods. He loves that i take them cuz he doesnt have the time and it keeps them happy. Then the other dogs play with walker across their fence chasing eachother and acting crazy  and the hound mix i help train basically lives at my house LOL. she walks with us, spends the night at my house, shes walkers baby.

I would go ask, the worst thing the owner can say is no. I ask my neighbor across the street all the time if her dog can come over to play with my 3 and she always says yes. Do you know this neighbor very well? If not, maybe this will be a great way to get to know each other????

We just moved to a new house. We have spoken with the neighbor a few times and they seem friendly, but it's the son's dog and I have only spoken with the father. Its now snowing outside and the dog is still there :( I don't like the idea of outside dogs... I know some people keep dogs like huskies outside and they love it because they are good in cold weather, but this is a hearding breed I believe and he's only a puppy. I can't really say anything in that regard though because I don't think it would help any.

Sounds like the owner will probably be glad somebody pays attention to the dog, since the owner obviously isn't.

Just a small update. Turns out I was wrong, the boxer/pug mix is still there, my fiance says he hides in the yard so we don't always see him. So they have both of them in the back yard. I thought it was just when they where at work, but they are out there for a long time at night also, so obviously they are making them outdoor dogs. It's snowing outside these days. I am not sure, but I think there is only one dog house. I am trying to stay out of my yard because it breaks my heart to hear them whining and now be able to play with them :(

It's an offence to not provide dogs with adequate shelter, exercise or company. An actual offence. Well, at least it is in Australia. I would report them. But that might cause problems you don't want, I guess. Poor doggies.

not really. the dogs next door hate our dogs. and our dogs hate them...

they used to fight through the fence. and next doors dog had to be taken to the vet a couple of times. so we have tin all along the fence now.

Many people think that all dogs like it outside and would rather be outside than inside. You might try talking to them about your dogs and how much they and you enjoy each other and somehow ease in a bit about how dogs are pack animals and enjoy the company of their people pack. That they do not like being alone even when there are two of them. Can you tell if the two get along? They may just tolerate each other and are not getting the advantage of companionship from each other. It sounds like they are not.

I was going to try and drop some hints about it... but they are not outside much now that its getting colder, and I don't know them well enough to knock on there door and invite myself in.

They do seem to get along pretty well. I have been watching them a lot because I worry about outdoor dogs and they do seem fine together.

As for calling and reporting him. There is a dog house there that is large enough for them, and for the most part of have seen water. It appears they are outside all day, allowed inside for up to 2-5 hours at night and then back outside again. I am not sure it they sleep there outside all night, but it appears so. There is nothing I could report them for though. Legally they are doing what they need to.

My neighbor's had two dogs. A rott and pit puppy. They always would be outside. I would help them squeeze in my yard through a hole in the fence and I would play and feed them. And let them nap in my house until the owners came home. When the owners came home I would say they snuck in my house again. They always would be near the fence and would just bark with joy everytime they see me in my backyard. I hated sometimes leaving them alone when I couldn't take care of them.
