This morning I woke up to the news that my friend Jeff from high school passed away in a car accident. So many people were commenting upset by the news including myself. At first I wondered if it could be an April fools joke, but then I thought to myself that no one in their right mind would joke about that. My friend AJ had posted the news on his Facebook and even tagged Jeff in it. If he is tagging Jeff so that all Jeffs friends and family can see then its got to be true right?

Then AJ posts that it was an April Fools Joke and that Jeff was in on it. Do they seriously think that is supposed to be funny??? I told AJ its not the least bit funny and very upsetting that he would post that. He told me to get over myself and that IF I researched it I would have known it was a joke and that if it was a celebrity I would have researched it and that it just shows that I care about celebrities more??? Wtf????,

I'm so upset right now. It's almost the year anniversary of when a super close friend of mine died so I'm already on edge right now. This Aprils fools joke was just cruel and in very poor taste.

How stupid and thoughtless! You have every right to be upset and I surely hope Jeff catches a ton of grief from his family (since I doubt they were in on the 'joke' either).

This is why I hate "April Fools." LYING is not funny, especially not when it involves somebody dying. WTF would think that's a "joke?" Ugh.

Amber I am so sorry. That is insanely childish, rude and just down right mean.
I HATE April Fools Day. I always have. Not because I get "got" but because it is a "holiday" that revolves around lying and rudeness.

April Fools is about putting a rubberband on the spray nozzle of your sink. It's not about lying about the death of a loved one.

You know, I have a pretty inappropriate sense of humor and even I think this was waaaaay over the line. I'd be pissed, too.

I'm so sorry, Amber! That's one of the worst April Fool's I've ever heard.
You know, people have different senses of humor, but there are just certain kinds of "jokes" you just DON'T try to pull. I don't like April Fool's because there are always some of those- cruel lies.

I usually am way over the top when it comes to April Fools (I am making my friend take a prank always positive pregnancy test for heavens sakes lol)

but even I agree, this was way out of line. It goes beyond the momentary OH MY GOD of jumping up from behind a bush or getting your toilet syran wrapped and gets to really actually hurting people..

That isn't funny, that's sick.

My friend posted on FB she was heading to Vegas to marry her forever BF (they have a wedding in the future...) it was cute, but faking a death is way inappropriate.

That kind of garbage is never, ever funny. The worst is when I've heard folks say "you should know what day it is" or anything along those lines.

Um.

Tragic events don't sit at standby until April 1st is over. Terrible things can and do happen today, like any other day.

I'm very proud of my contact lists everywhere (FB, Goggle+, Twitter, etc). I've seen some funny "oops just kidding" gags today (some that actually "got" me too, since I was at work!) and not ONE of them had a death or anything else tragic involved. It's not hard to pull a prank on someone without hurt feelings.

I'm very sorry that you had deal with such a thing, especially so close to your friend's anniversary of death. People are real dicks sometimes. :(

Thank you so much guys. I'm still pretty upset over it. There are a lot of people pissed about it right now. It caused such a mess on Facebook. I absolutely hate April fools for reasons like this. Light fun pranks are one thing... But faking a death.... It's plain awful.

That's just horrible. I bet his family is reaming him for this one. I know my mom would kick my ass from here to California if I pulled a stunt like that. Not to mention my sister. 0_o

I've never been fond of April Fool's Day myself. I never play pranks on anyone because I hate having them played on me.

I'll say that not one person on my FB has done any April Fool's shenanigans :)

That was a horrible "prank"
