I just set up a new Google calendar and populated it with "events" consisting of details of exactly what jump training I want to do with Auggie each day. I'm hoping this will help me keep better organized. I like the Suzanne Clothier method because it's so clearly set up - do this work on this day! But I think the Susan Salo stuff is also helpful, so I want to try working in that stuff too. But it's much looser... it's kind of like IKEA instructions. Here's all the parts you need and this is what the finished product looks like... okay... GO!
So I've been spending some spare time here and there pouring through all her notes, and also some notes I found from people online that went to her seminars, and made up a rough plan to follow day to day just from the beginning jump work stuff. Once Auggie gets regularly successful with those, I'll have to kill my current repeating plans and make new ones that work in the advanced jump work.

I thought to do this in the first place because the best way I learned to train myself to run was to have a concrete plan so I knew EXACTLY how many miles I was running each day. When left to my own devices, I start floundering aimlessly and it was much easier to skip days and get out of the habit. But when I have a calendar in front of me that shows me how many miles on every day, I get out and do it. I guess that's just how my brain works, I know not everybody's works that way.
I've been having a hard time with Auggie's jump training because of the same thing, I start floundering and even though we usually get out and do it, I end up stagnate and we just drill the same exercises over and over because I'm not sure what else to do. It's FUN for him because he loves to jump, and when he gets good at an exercise he just flies, but it doesn't actually help him progress in his skills any. It starts turning more into just muscle memory, and though there's a small portion of muscle memory involved, it's the thinking process involved that he really needs to learn and understand.

And of course now I want to set up a Google calendar for the puppy. I ordered two puppy foundation books with my birthday money and they came last week, I just haven't had a chance to read them yet (I ordered one just because it has Auggie's grandpa on the cover.) I started looking at one and it claims to have a concrete plan of what to do when, so I'm excited about that, LOL.
