Any tips or advice on what breed would be best for me?

I like to go camping all the time and go for walks everyday. I live on a lake and there are lots of rivers and creeks around within walking distance.

During the summer I'm in and out of the water just about everyday.

I've had so many pets in the past and think the next one should match my life activities and life style.

The one big issue is that I live in a pet friendly apartment.

Thanks for any input and ideas.

why is living in a pet friendly apartment an issue?

do you really want a puppy? maybe adopting an older dog.. even one that is 1 or 2 years old would be good. since you are so active it would be easier since they were already old enough to go out hiking/camping with you

What is your experience level with training? That will make a difference. Sounds like a water retriever type would be a good "match" but what specific breed will depend upon your level of experience, kwim?

Yoko, thanks for the advice. My concern was how big some breeds can get and I'm in a small apartment. I've noticed some dogs are barking during the day and don't want to add to the issue. I think it may be because they feel copped up or something?

motherofmany, I don't have a whole lot of experience with dog training. Thanks for the tips on the water retriever type of breed.
