There is a horrible apartment fire just south of me . At least 36 complexes are in ashes . So far no human fatalities or injuries, but all I can think of is what pets may have perished !!! Many must have had fuzzy , feathered loving pets . It tears my heart apart . So many have lost everything and yet all I can think about are the animals .

Nothing to feel ashamed about Bubbtd.
I'll be perfectly honest apart from my child only a handfull of humans come close to being as special to me as my dogs.

I'd have most probably been thinking just as you were.

Don't feel bad for the way you feel. I am sure all of them would trade everything they own to have their pets back I know I would.

I almost hope I don't learn .....A friend of mine had a late night house fire .... they and the kids got out , but their beloved Doxie was found huddled under a bed ...gone . I've never forgotten their sorrow !

I have to agree with everyone else here Grammy, don't feel bad.

Personally I would be way more heartbroken over my pets that perished than ANY item gone in the fire..........and that includes things that can't be replaced like photos, jewels (sentimental) or any heirloom. They are after all just things..........an animal is a living, breathing being with an individual personality, one of a kind and can never be replaced.

HOPefully many got themselves out. WHen we had our fire, i had no idea if the cats had gone down with it or not. But by the next day they had both returned to the ashes. Feathered and finned as well, its just a shame.
