Hi...

Rebecca here... I've been a professional dog trainer for 20 years and I just LOVE my job!

Unlike most of my trainer friends who own amazingly trained purebred competition dogs, I have a house full of rescue dogs. I'm a sucker for senior dogs, so I usually have one or two little old dogs living out their retirement years with me... right now I have a 19 year old, toothless Chihuahua and I just adopted a handicapped, 8 year old, toothless, nearly deaf Toy Poodle! She's amazing... her rear legs don't work too well due to a birth defect, so she spends a lot of time walking on her front legs with her butt up in the air! I also have a 7 year old rescue Dobie that I've had for about 2 years.

My dogs are living proof that you can teach old dogs new tricks!

Rebecca

Hi and welcome to Chazhound! I think it's great that you adopt older dogs it's such a wonderful thing to make their lives so much brighter after so much pain. I'd love to see pictures of them. I'm sure you'll learn a lot here and I hope you enjoy the forum :D

Welcome to Chaz! I recently fostered my first dog and she was 11 years old. An amazing collie! It took her 10 months to get adopted, but it's the perfect home. See you on the forum!

I'd love to check out the Geriatric Club thread... let me know where to find it!

I don't have any pics of my dogs on my new computer, but I'll have to get some so you can see MY "geriatric club"!!
