I have stayed in contact with Save Our Strays, the org that is responsible for saving Victor. She recently sent out emails asking anyone that could to please help in any way. I wrote her and asked permission to post this here.

I am going to piece meal the emails so I hope it will not be confusing.

Please find attached photos taken today at Mac’s house, January 15th, 2011.

    --------------------------------------------

It is difficult for me to tell if some of these female dogs are pregnant (see #3081) or if they hang low from the stomach area from having so many litters over the years. Some of them are pregnant just a short time, because we’ve seen them hooked up with males several times in the past two weeks.

It may be difficult to catch some of these dogs, particularly the smaller ones, but several of us from the Humane Society are going out tomorrow to catch as many as we can. Dr. Elliott is on call to take them to his office after we catch them.

As you can see, there are several hound females. In the back, there is also a solid brown female who looks like she’ll have pups any minute. It was too dark to get her photo by the time I got all the way to the back. One of the small black and white dogs is also very pregnant. Some of the others may or may not be – it’s hard for me to tell.

There are about five or six smaller dogs (see #3083). Only one is pregnant for sure, a black and white one. Also in #3083 the pointy eared brown and white dog (right of the other brown and white dog) is 90% blind. #3089 doesn’t seem to be pregnant right now.

There are many of the light tan Mountain Cur dogs. #3095 and #3096. I can’t get to them without disassembling the pens, but the males and females are mixed, so who knows?

If Tails can take any of them, please let me know. These dogs are in appalling conditions and nobody out there is spayed or neutered, so all of the females are at risk. I can be sure that at least three are showing pregnancy and probably five or six more are on the way.

With luck, we’ll have a good number of the captured by this time tomorrow. Let me know what Tails can take.

By my count there were 11 adults dogs and six puppies. Puppies were born January 15th, according to Mac. I have also included a picture of two wonderful Yellow Lab puppies dropped at Dr. Elliott’s earlier in the week, in case Tails would be interested in them. They had first round of shots last Tuesday, Jan 11th.

Dr. Elliott will vaccinate and worm all of the adults before they will be transported.

The situation these dogs came from was very repulsive and filthy (see attachment “Ugly situation ….â€), and many of these dogs have spent their whole lives at Mac’s. Amazingly, not one of these dogs snapped or growled at us when we rescued them. I am surprised, but I don’t believe one dog will have to be euthanized. Mac does love them, but he’s completely unable to take care of them financially or physically any longer. He was taking water to them twice a week, because without rain water that’s all he could afford.

I believe several of these females are in heat. I rescued either one or two males because we needed their pens to catch the females and we were afraid to let them go loose. Doc can tell me more tomorrow after he examines them.

Let me know what Beth decides. I could take them toward the end of the week. I’m a little worried about the newborns, and every day that goes by gives them a better chance of doing well on the long drive----

That would be fine to post. We have no resources down here in Oklahoma. We are boarding over 30 at my vet. At over $100.00 a day. We need to spay/neuter. We have a humane society that will take the 3 moms and puppies (just had them this week at our vet). Many are still pregnant. We are going to try and move them to Chicago in the next few days, weather permitting.

At anyone could even take one.

We also have 2 shitzus that I took from a breeder in Missouri (actually I took 17 of them in September). The two I still have are still shy (wonder why). If I can move these two, plus any of the others I have at my place (a chocolate lab, some other very nice mixed dogs) I can help take the rest of these dogs from this hoarder. There still is over 20 out there plus the chickens.

Everything I have is spayed and neutered and vaccinated. And we will transport.

This is very overwhelming to us. Not only do we get to deal with the everyday dumping of dogs, but this too.

Anything that you can do, post, donate, we need to buy food, more kennels, everything.

    It is bad.

    Thanks,

    Connie

THis is the same org I have written about here over and over again. Connie is responsible for the life of literally thousands of dogs. SHe crossed the 2000 point months and months ago. She organized bake sales, garage sales anything that could be done to trap. spay and release when there was no other solution. Even when she and her husband were planning to retire, health issues on top of that, they moved to town to begin a slower life. If I remember correctly she wasn't there anytime at all when she was chasing a puppy down the street that was being chased by a pack of dogs. Found out that she had moved into dog town USA and started all over again.

SHe started this in memory of her daughter was died at a tragic young age, a young woman who was dedicated to improving the life of animals.

She spends 90 percent of her time doing transports.

IF anyone can help, by cross posting, by sending funds, by sending moral support, supplies, by taking a dog, please please please contact her.

Thank you Zoom. Maybe if we can spread the word enough people might be able to help. ((((((HUGS))))) you are the best of the best.

YOu know in those conditions that fleas, illnesses, teeth, nails, nothing gets done as well as the pregnancies and dying pups. THe suffering just goes on and on and on and on.. What I can't fathom is water twice a week in Oklahoma of all places. To be starving and dehydrated is torture, fleas are torture. I only wish I was well enough to roll my sleeves up and do even a tenth of what Connie does.

THank you so much for putting a stickie on this. A mother dog and I think 5 or so puppies are being taken to St. Louis today. THey believe there are still 20 or so dogs still in that horrid situation. Please cross post and tell anyone you can. Anything would help, even a few dollars would help with gasoline. It all adds up. Will update as soon as I know anything.

    LATEST UPDATE

Got 4 pg walkers, 2 moms and puppies on the road this morning to St. Louis, on their way to Chicago.

We are desperate to get the rest moved.

They are pg and our vet does not want any more born at this clinic. There is still 19 dogs out at this hoarder, plus the chickens.

I do have a facebook page. Go to Connie Guthrie and you can find it. We have not put this in the paper or anything, because we want this guy to first give us the dogs.

I have been so busy trying to find places for these dogs to go, finding dog food, supplies or fosters. It is a challenge.

I will deff crosspost! Smkie, if there are any cockers or spaniel type dogs, please let ke know, the rescues would do everything they can to help. Has anyone posted this on the PF forum or something like that?
Those conditions are so sad, we deff don't want any more pups born there :(

when I moved back in mom said no more fostering for a while, but I can ask. It doesn't hurt to ask.
