Hey all,

Been awhile since I have visited, but A LOT is going on...We are possibly moving from RI to AZ! SHOOT ME NOW!!! We will be driving out, which is a 40+ hour trip with 3 kids, 2 dogs, 4 cats, 2 guinea pigs and 3 rabbits...

My question is, is there a site where I can find LARGE DOG friendly hotels, for the trip? I think we are going around the phoenix area..I am not sure yet, as we have no information from my husbands company as of yet..The company here is shutting down, and he was offered a job with their sister company out in AZ....

I am also looking for local papers where I can find house rental listings...I was looking on realtor.com for homes and they are really reasonable, but what is a "sub-division"? Is it like a colony?...LOL...I must say the price for rental houses are reasonable... Better then here!

Thanks in advance...

Okay. A subdivision is a colony of sorts, lol! It's a development of houses in fairly close proximity on fairly uniform lots. If you've seen "Desperate Housewives" or "The Stepford Wives" you've seen a subdivision . . .

Arizona is GORGEOUS! Phoenix is a nice place to live, although I prefer Albuquerque. Do a search for motels/hotels that accept pets. I think the Motel6 chain accepts pets now . . .

If it makes you feel any better, when I was five we moved from Gallipolis, Ohio to California. My parents were trapped in a smallish car with a toy Fox Terrier, two turtles (that had to be smuggled over the California state line) and a five year old hell-bent on memorizing Longfellow's entire "Song of Hiawatha." I'm sure my parents both have nightmares to this day that involve a small, childish voice reciting "By the shores of Gitchy-goomy, by the shining big sea water, stood the wigwam of Nokomis, Daughter of the moon, Nokomis. . ." I had the entire poem memorized by the time we got there . . .

I kinda figured a subdivision was a colony of sorts...LOL...
