If I Didn't Have Dogs...

I could walk around the yard barefoot in safety.

My house could be carpeted instead of tiled and laminated.

All flat surfaces, clothing, furniture, and cars would be free of hair.

When the doorbell rings, it wouldn't sound like a kennel.

When the doorbell rings, I could get to the door without wading through fuzzy bodies who beat me there.

I could sit on the couch and my bed the way I wanted, without taking into consideration how much space several fur bodies would need to get comfortable.

I would have money .....and no guilt to go on a real vacation.

I would not be on a first-name basis with 6 veterinarians, as I put their yet unborn grand kids through college.

The most used words in my vocabulary would not be: out, sit, down, come, no, stay, and leave him/her/it ALONE.

My house would not be cordoned off into zones with baby gates or barriers.

My house would not look like a day care center, toys everywhere.

My pockets would not contain things like poop bags, treats and an extra leash.

I would no longer have to Spell the words B-A-L-L, F-R-I-S-B-E- E, W-A-L-K, T-R-E-A-T, B-I-K-E, G-O, R-I-D-E

I would not have as many leaves INSIDE my house as outside.

I'd look forward to spring and the rainy season instead of dreading "mud" season.

I would not have to answer the question "Why do you have so many animals?" from people who will never have the joy in their lives of knowing they are loved unconditionally by someone as close to an angel as they will ever get.
How EMPTY my life would be!

awww!!!

If I didn't have Ella:

I wouldn't have to baby gate my foyer and/or yell at people who enter or exit my house to make sure that ALL doors are shut behind them.

I wouldn't step on rubber squeaky toys in the middle of the night that I SWEAR she has strategically placed just so that I would step on them.

I wouldn't have to buy dog food all the time and have an extra special meal to prepare everyday.

I wouldn't spend money on 839484 collars and make just as many matching leads.

I wouldn't have dog collars laying around my house in various places.

If the doorbell rings I wouldn't have to hold her back until the person crossed through the baby gate.

I wouldn't have to buy special doggy shampoo.

I wouldn't have to go through the trouble of dremeling her nails.

I wouldn't have to pay for a trainer to train ME on how to train my dog.

I wouldn't have to make 8394850 trips outside with a dog on leash for her to go potty.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

But if I didn't have Ella:

I wouldn't be greeted by the most adorable dog ever, with the most adorable ears ever, who acts like I am a doggy god as soon as I enter the house.

I wouldn't have the world's BEST cuddler.

I wouldn't have a furry creature that looks over me and snuggles with me when I have the flu.

I wouldn't have the funnest, ball obsessed monster that is SO entertaining.

Walks wouldn't be nearly as interesting.

Neither would bike rides.

Neither would dinnertime because she wouldn't be there to give me that, "I can has people food, too, mom" look.

My children would be minus one friend.

I would be minus the knowledge of responsible pet ownership growth.

I wouldn't be able to get all excited buying stuff for a dog.

I'd miss the glow in the dark ears.

I'd miss the over-all beauty that is my dog.

AWE :D To your list barb I add...........

If I didn't have dogs I would be able to stretch out completely on my own bed for a good nights sleep.
I wouldn't be woke up early with a cold wet nose wanting to go out.
I could sleep an extra 25 minutes in the morning before work because I wouldn't have to see to their feeding.
I would never step on half chewed bones with bare feet and curse in the dark.
I would not have to pick up bits of chewed toys/stuffing strewn about the house.

BUT

I would not have those soft brown eyes worshiping my every move.
That soft pink tongue to share kisses just because.
Those velvety ears to stroke absently while I watch a movie.
I would never know all the love that comes from living, sharing, learning, and loving my furry friends.

If I didn't have dogs ~

I wouldn't have to wake up and go outside in the cold and dark winter mornings.

I wouldn't wake up with a mouthful of fur.

I wouldn't have to keep shoes stored on a high shelf.

I wouldn't have rips and mud stains on all my clothes.

I wouldn't be woken up at 2 in the morning because the dogs decided it was playtime.

----------------------

I wouldn't be greeted by the cutest wagging bunny butts when I came home.

I wouldn't have the laughter that comes from watching all their antics.

I wouldn't have a footwarmer for each foot and a hand warmer for each hand.

I wouldn't have an organic eco-friendly paper shredder.

If I didn't have Middie, bed would be without its extra-warm layer of fur plastered to the blankets. I might even shiver. :yikes:

I'd also be able to sleep in as long as I want, and when I DO wake up I'd have my pillow AND my blankets.

I'd never have to clean up drool again. :D LOL

If I didn't have dogs I'd be able to sleep past sunrise without whining, fussing and nibbling from the beasts.
If I didn't have dogs, my room wouldn't look like a small boarding kennel.
If I didn't have Zaphod I'd actually be able to leave things on tables and counters. I'd also be able to have candles without him eating them.
If I didn't have dogs I'd stop turning the TV on animal planet and letting it run for hours while they watch.
If I didn't have/spend so much money on my dogs, I would have much nicer clothes, newer gadgets and my hair would always be done nicely at a salon. ;)
If I didn't have dogs, I'd probably have $15,000 worth of vet bills sitting in a savings account. :)

If I didn't have Zaphod, I wouldn't feel safe walking at night.
If I didn't have Dash, I'd be missing out on the purest, most unbridled love I've yet encountered from any animal.
If I didn't have Dakota, I wouldn't have the other two wonderful BCs, nor would my dad have his best friend.
If I didn't have Eve, I wouldn't be able to live the lifestyle I do. It's not a matter of her forcing me to live differently. I'm capable of living the way I want to because of her. I'll take independence and confidence over a clean, hair-free bedroom any day. :D

They're worth it all.
